all done, that was really easy... just follow the instructions and stick to the specs!

The SSD really made it fly - 15 minute OS X install.
:headbang:

With your SSD, you might want to take a look at: http://lnx2mac.blogspot.com/2010/09/mov ... ition.html

you read my mind! I did about 30 minutes of googling last night to find the best way to do this! This will be a job for tonight (along with reinstalling Windows 7).

Be sure to check the previous articles (on alternatives, and rationale for doing this...)

Re: Official CustoMac Pro X58A-UD3R-2.0 Install Guide 10-18

I just ordered all the parts from:
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/08/ ... -2010.html

I can't wait until everything gets here to get this going!

Quick question, should I be using the
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R-2.0-FA DSDT
or
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R-2.0-FB DSDT

I'm a totally new to this, but I think I've done my research pretty well. Thank you so much for this amazing resource.

It depends on what version of the BIOS is installed. I would recommend updating to FB.

Is there anyway to find that out before the motherboard arrives? I just got the one direct from the Amazon link provided.

No, but it doesn't take long to flash the bios. You do have to mess around a bit to get the bios file if you only have access to a Mac though..

Re: Official CustoMac Pro X58A-UD3R-2.0 Install Guide 10-18

Im having some problems with a new installation following this guide. . I have X58A-UD3R rev.2 and FB bios, i7 980x, and ATI 5770 1GB.

With the CPU appears this. Are these values correct?
Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
Processor Speed: 3,33 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 6
L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 12 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 100 MHz

With graphics i cant change resolution (only appears 1024*768) and also show 256 MB.
Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
Type: GPU
Bus: PCIe
Slot: Slot-1
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x68b8
Revision ID: 0x0000
ROM Revision: 113-B7710C-176
EFI Driver Version: 01.00.318

And with ram (i have one dimm at 1333mhz) appears this. It shows 800mhz.
Size: 2 GB
Type: DDR3
Speed: 800 MHz
Status: OK
Manufacturer: OCZ
Part Number: OCZ3G1333LV2G
Serial Number: 0x00000000

Also ethernet is not working.

I would appreciate any help, thanks.

No, you won't be able to tell until you install the hardware. But updating it is very easy.
