I installed this card in my new build, but nothing shows up in System Preferences > Network (Wi-Fi does not show up on the left side where Ethernet, Firewire, Bluetooth, etc...
Can someone explain what I need to do.

Click the + "Plus" button and try to add Wi-Fi...

+1 for non-5ghz / N Band. Confirmed to work OOB with 10.8.2, but just can't the other bands. This is my first build (actually did 3 of the same!!)... all the CustoMac Pro 2012 Builds. Anybody figure this out?? In my System Report, it does say 802.11n ... is it crazy?

PHY Mode: 802.11n
BSSID: e0:91:f5:02:8c:7d
Channel: 6
Country Code:
Network Type: Infrastructure
Security: WPA2 Personal
Signal / Noise: -56 dBm / -90 dBm
Transmit Rate: 130
MCS Index: 15

I also have a h61n-usb3 and a native wifi card in the pci-e port, mine also stops working after a while, a tried to find a fix but to no avail, i also tried the card in a h67n-usb3-b3 and it did the same thing, in all my other system the card worked flawlessly (ep45-ud3p and lots of g31m-....)

To put it simply have you found a fix ?

thanks in advance and have a happy new year

Well I might have found a solution to the crappy 5ghz channel support not going past 64. This card does not have a proper regdomain set for OS X to use or understand, but does work right with windows because the drivers handle the regdomain correctly.

Changing the regdomain, has worked with other Atheros cards under OS X.

Changing the regdomain might be ILLEGAL in your country. THIS MOD/HACK CAN BRICK YOUR T-P LINK WI-FI CARD, ITS NOT MY FAULT YOU DID IT, EVEN THOUGH I SAID IT COULD BRICK YOUR CARD. :banghead: :banghead:

I'm going to use these two tools, to change my regulator domain later tonight. I don't have a guide or anything yet because I haven't done anything as of yet. Will advise my results once complete.

Only thing I can say... You will need Windows 7 or higher to make changes to the AR9380 EEPROM.

If there are any brave souls, out there give it a shot. Stock apple Atheros card regdomain = 0x0

Good Luck,

Mrengles

I tried this option but RCU.exe is not working anymore with Commview.

Any other solution?

Thanks

Does anyone with this card have the WiFi randomly shut off? It will still say I'm connected, but just stop working.

I got the exact same problem.
I am using TimeCapsule as router.
Changing the 5Ghz channel from 36 to 48 seems more stable.
I am still testing as the random shut off does not occur frequently.

Have you done this yourself? I'm thinking on doing it on the Rosewill 900PCE (same as TP Link). Any thoughts? Steps?

I too get the same error message out of RCU as someone else. So not exactly sure what to do, older RCU version I found dosen't recognize it so maybe there is one inbetween? Regardless any input? As otherwise we can't change the EEPROM.

I installed this in my system and the system shows "Wi-Fi" as a greyed-out option. Then, when I go to Network settings, there is no Wi-Fi option. Any ideas?
