no-signal/black screen on installation screen "r9 270x"

Hey one thing I also forgot to mention was for my card I couldn’t use Pikes board Id patch I had to disable it or I was also getting the black screen. Also I am fixing to leave my computer to go to a birthday party for my son so I won't be able to assist much more for a few hours but you can try this. Firstly disable Pike board ID patch in your config.plist. If that doesn't work leave it disabled for now and try changing the find data in the kext to patch section of your config.plist to a different frame buffer with this list of buffers
Code:
-------------------------AMD7000Controller.kext-------------------------

Just copy the numbers and paste them in the find section for the patch AMD7000Controller.kext and then on the graphics section just change the frame buffer to match the one you changed it to and try to pick ones with the same number of ports or it definitely won't work. Hope this helps and I'll be available via mobile.

first happy birth day to your son :headbang:

second i added the 2 patches of pika and tried all the frame buffers with (4) connectors but nothing worked.

however i noticed that none of the above list have the correct connectors type as the 270x which is "2x Dvi, HDMI, DP" and it seams that one that have that same type is "HD 5770" https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/radeon-compatibility-guide-ati-amd-graphics-cards.171291/

Update

i've also tried removing all patches and only use the bios rom in "clover/rom" with inject ati and load vbios but still no luck.

Thanks!

I couldn't use Pike's board-id to board-ix patch or it would cause me to have black screen as well. However I'm using system definition iMac 14,1 though, But you are using Mac Pro 6,1, so we will have to patch something here for sure though to resolve the problem. I really need to see an IOReg of your machine. Is there any way you can boot up and use screen sharing and view the desktop from another Mac/Hack you might have. If not lets try some things. First I'm going to upload another config.plist for you to try. So rather than using Pike's board-id patch lets do a DSDT patch called rename GFX0 to GFX1 it essentially does the same thing.

Now one thing I did forget to mention is on my first boot I still had the black screens until I rebuilt the kext caches. I actually would continue to have black screens until I rebuilt kext caches. I did a fresh reinstall so I could see exactly what all I did in an effort to help you. So if you have no way of reaching the desktop you may have to do this via single user mode. But hopefully you have some way of reaching the desktop. I was able to boot into safe mode and I would have all my monitors working prior to applying the black screen fixes via the frame buffer patches. So if you can boot in to safe mode and reach the desktop without the black screen great proceed to rebuild kext caches and repair disk permissions. Then reboot to see if it worked. Hopefully it does. If you have to rebuild kext caches via single user mode then type the following commands once booted in single user mode and you see root and press enter for each and let them run.
Code:
mount -uw /
then press enter and wait for root

Code:
touch /System/Library/Extensions/
then press enter and wait for root

Code:
kextcache -Boot -U /
then press enter and wait for root

Code:
reboot
then press enter and the system will reboot

So in recap use the attached config.plist and rebuild the caches or it will definite fail to work

i honestly not sure what is the difference between using 6.1 or 14.2 "the current for El Cap" other than 6.1 was the one i was using on El Cap USB, i've included my current config incase u may need it.

sorry this it the only machine i have, for the IOReg not sure what u need but i have AIDA64 to extract the aml files or i can get the ones clover extract with "F4".

for the safe mode, for some unknown reason, everytime i try to boot into it the machine auto-reboot.

i have applied the FB patch from ur attached config and will try to rebuild the cache , then will report back.

again thanx for all ur help, deeply appreciate it

using single user give panic , single user & safe mode give auto-reboot.

btw do u by any chance have a vga monitor somewhere u can test ? am starting to suspect that its an issue with new OS and the vga-to-dvi converter

Single user mode giving a panic? Why never had that problem before. Yeah I have a couple old monitors that have VGA support but they also have DVI support and I am currently using them. But I'd definitely not use any VGA connections it's know to cause issues. Can you get me a screen shot of the panic?

the panic is too long and a ss wont help but even better, i've been trying to find a way to save the boot log "panic or normal" to the efi but dont know how :( , "var/log" have **** load of logs and i dont know why one is related to the boot.

is there a link u can direct to do that ?
