No Audio Devices - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

Status
Not open for further replies.
No audio input/output devices found for my GA-P55M-UD4/ F9/ i7-875k/ 9800GT
When running command file I'm getting... Audio ID: 885 is not supported, continue (y/n):
My board is supposed to have Realtek 889a (which is under 885 support)
The audio codec detect command tool gives me: Audio ID: Not supported, but appears to know it is 885 codec

I have tried 3 of the listed methods: Multibeast method realtek 885/889a, CloverALC and PikerALC.

I included the items that are requested, but wasn't sure how to capture the IOreg boot log. My kernal sound assertions log only contains a third of the most recent data because of the limits of tonymac for this upload file type, but I can send more if need be. I just use the DSDT.aml on my desktop that is matched to my Mobo and BIOS version. I should mention that this was migrated recently from 10.6.8 to 10.11.3 and so Clover bootloader replaced Chameleon/Chimera or something like that (non-UEFI board).

My EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/Patched folder is empty.

Any direction on this would be appreciated... including "you don't know what you are doing" :)

Ok thx! I'll give this a try. Looks like I have a few methods to choose from for editing the layout=id. It's strange right now my layout id shows up as <75 03 00 00>. Your Post#1 is intimidating but very thorough and well organized. I feel like I've learned a lot just getting you the troubleshooting files.

All good here thanks Toleda! I corrected the layout-ID by editing the DSDT with directions in post#1. Then I re-ran the script. Excellent guide!

Next, I'm going to have to better configure the output descriptions listed in system preferences. For example, built-in speaker is actually my primary line-out. Also at this point I should not expect digital-in coaxial to carry a 24bit signal so I'll have to further enable HD audio.

Hi Toleda. My audio is 887/888b Realtec. It worked on 10.11.3. But after I installed update 10.11.4 there is no sound.

When I run your script audio_cloverALC-110_v1.0q10.command I get this every time:
Code:
OK to patch
codec: 8b19d411 is missing
S/L/E/AppleHDA.kext is not native
Install native AppleHDA.kext
No system files were changed

I installed Realtec 887/888b Legacy from MultiBeast and then tried to run script again but still get the same message.

Can you help please?

after I installed update 10.11.4 there is no sound.

1. No audio devices appear (No Codec) after updating (but it worked before that on 10.11.3)
2. OSX El Capitan 10.11.4, Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H B6, Realtec ALC887
3. Used this guide https://github.com/toleda/audio_CloverALC

AppleHDA.kext is not native
See Post #1/Realtek ALC AppleHDA Installation/3. Native AppleHDA . . .
Thanks, but I have a question.
This native kext, I need to get it from previous version 10.11.3 installer or from 10.11.4?
