Hi everyone, long time reader first time poster here.:D I am just working on assembling the buy for my first Hackintosh build here. Making the jump from my current iMac i7. I am looking for something that can speed up my rendering and colour grading times as well as something that is cheaper, upgradeable and a bit more modular then the apple has to offer.

I am not wanting to go too far off the beaten track in terms of hardware, my list so far is as follows:

Intel Core i7 4770K

GA-Z87X-UD5-TH

Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 770 OC 2GB

Corsair CMZ16GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz

Fractal Design Define R4 PC Case

Corsair CP-9020055-UK RM Series RM750 80 Plus Gold 750W ATX/EPS Fully Modular Power Supply Unit

Corsair Hydro H90 Liquid Cooling System

TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 N900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter

And an Apple wireless keyboard and trackpad

Owned already:

Samsung 840 PRO 6Gb/s SATA 256GB SSD

IN ADDITION! I am a Blackmagic Cinema camera user and also do some photography so I would really like to have an internal dock for SSDs and camera cards. I have seen this here:

Akasa AK-ICR-10 3.5 inch Internal Card and Drive Reader

Does anyone know if it is or can be made compatible or if there is another product that does what this one does and fits in a front facing bay?

I would also like to get a DVD drive. does anyone have experience using this one?

LG BH16NS40.AUAR10B 16x SATA Internal BD-RW Retail Kit

Again if there is a good functional alternative that anyone can suggest that would be wonderful!

I'm also trying to decide between the Dell Ultrasharp U2713HM and the Iiyama Prolite 2779qs for a monitor...

And remember, I am a noob so any advice will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance, happy hacking!

The LG might work as the LG BH10LS30 worked in ML - http://www.tonymacx86.com/buying-advice/79892-recommended-blu-ray-drive-lg-bh10ls30.html

The Pioneer http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0083R9QFC/?tag=tonymacx86-21 will definitely work

For the monitor, I like the specs and http://www.otest.co.uk/p/iiyama-tests/prolite-xb2779qs-reviews.html gives it a thumbs up as just as good as the Dell Ultrashap if you don't need the extra connectivity the Dell has.

Thanks for the tips, both the DVD drives look like better choices than the one I picked, and I'm almost decided on the iiyama...
