Ok
ssd1 is disk 0 - gpt
The first partition id the EFI - 200mb
followed by osx - 189.23GB
then a 128mb unallocated
and finally the 48.92 Windows 7

ssd2 is disk 1 - mbr
which i would expect to show in diskmngmt correctly....??
Anyway it ha 2 ntfs partitions
the first being win7 audio - 76.37GB
and then win 8 - 42.87GB

I realise that diskmgmt's reporting here is prtobably erroneous but I am unable to copy screenshots from acronis or gparted.

Would a screenshot from osx via disk utility help?

or should I disconnect ssd1 and boot win8 then copy a screenshot from disk utility there?

ok -here's from diskutility in osx:

I tend to avoid third party file system code (Tuxera, etc.). Can't trust it.

Maybe your NTFS partitions on ssd2 are corrupt and that's why they are not showing in diskmgmt.msc?

I'm going to try running checks on those partitions but when ssd1 isn't connected it seemed to boot fine - at least to win8 which is now default after the bcdediting.....???

Can you see anything wrong in my last bcdedit posts?

Makes sense (to run checks).

Can you see anything wrong in my last bcdedit posts?

I can really tell from there, not knowing how drive letters are assigned to partitions. They are somewhat random and the only way to tell is to look at diskpart/"list vol" output.

Unfortunately something has happened whereby I now can't boot either os on ssd2 - even with ssd1 unattached.

So in with the win 8 dvd to access cmd prompt and I've got device unknown again!!!!!

Just ran diskpart and it's now listing win7 audio as d and win 8 as c
Before I proceed, I'm curious if this matters ion the greater scheme?
Presumably the bcdedit /store c:\Boot\BCD command oralternatively
bcdedit /store d:\Boot\BCD changes which os's bootloader I'm editing, but given that win7 audio is physically first on the disk should diskpart not list that as c: ?

Also won't each os when booted see itself as c?
Therefore should I not define each os separately as "device=c:"?
or is there only going to be one bootloader for both? I thought the idea was to have 2 separate ones for this to work?

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused here

Actually - never mind my last post,
I did quite a bit of reading up on bcdedit and ended up using bcdboot c:\windows to get back into a working win8 again and through there and by way of comparison and heavy reference to your guide I finally succeeded in getting all 4 booting from chimera!

Once again Rehabman, very many thanks for your help and perserverance!
I have learned a lot and feel I actually understand what I did now!

Cheers and have a brilliant weekend! :D

Glad you figured it out as I've been pretty busy doing some modifications to our fence (my wife would rather I finish the fence rather than hackintosh...).

On top of that it is summer and we have our usual parade of visitors.

It is always better to learn and understand anyway... Congratulations & enjoy.
