Don't have any - don't have a Blu-Ray player, and OSX's DVD player doesn't work anyway (fails to recognize my device).

Is there some sort of dummy file (and not copyrighted, of course) that i can download from somewhere to perform the tests? EDIT: found a reference for such a file, but the link for the file itself is dead: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=139374. I'll continue to search.

All the best!

If you don't need or use encoded digital audio, there is no problem. Encoded digital audio fails with the AMD default framebuffer.

Thank you very much for the info. So i think we can call it a victory, right? :D I mean, in the worst scenario (quite unlikely, because it's only my "fun" machine), if i need surround audio, i have a start point: if it's possible to enable HDMI audio at least with the generic ATY framebuffer, there's a very distinct possibility it works with other framebuffers, such as Eulemur, through further research. But for now i'm satisfied (partly: now my goal is internal AppleHDA audio).

All the best!

Hi all,

just finished my first Hackintosh build and still need to get the HD-Audio / ALC892 working.

The build:
Gigabyte Z77N-WiFi
i7k
16GB
SSD
BluRay
OS X 10.8.3

Audio Problem:
I have managed to enable HDMI-Audio with Multibeast 5.2.1 using the optional DSDT file in the Download section; AirPlay is also recognized and works like a charm.

Now, is it possible to enable the on-board sound /HD Audio/ ALC892, along with HDMI-Audio and AirPlay? or do I have to choose between HDMI-Audio and HD-Audio?

(The search function didn't help)

Please help, cheers

While I'm sure this post is very useful and detailed to those who have a firm grasp on it all.

But are there any actually step by step guides around? e.g. "Step 1, Step 2, Step 3..."

This thread is so generic, I find it hard to tell what's actually suitable for my build. (Mountain Lion, x79 Sabertooth, GTX 670)

i previously enabled hdmi audio on the z77x-ud5h and all was well but I have a question .. My hd4000 is missing " intel" and named "HD Graphics 4000" What I am curious about is does this affect anything graphic related as I have been working all week to try and fix iTunes garbled video issues. i know this might be slightly off topic but i am guessing i might have to redo some of my patches.

Go here:

and download "5.1 Surround Test"; also several other 5.1 mixed tracks here you can test.

cheers!

Thank you very much indeed for the link!

I just made the test using the short surround test audio file, and it opened just fine in my TV connected through HDMI. All the steps (front left, front right etc) appear to be working as it should, since i indeed hear "front left" and "rear left" coming from the left side of my TV, and "front left" is clearly louder than "rear left", indicating they are being correctly adressed. It seems then that surround is working, which is really nice. :D

All the best!
