i would take the 6870 if you cant afford it. the 650gtx would be a better choice then 640. just remember they will consume more power.

it also depends on how often you are gaming and how tolerent you are when it comes to FPS / detail.

i would even consider dropping some of that CPU power you have for better GFX card. but that because i love playing games.

this is my best advice. but take note i dont know alot about compatible hardware since im noob on that one so get it dubble checked

yeah the 6870 is certainly over my budget... but i think i'll follow your advice and get that gtx 650.

have you any idea how much power i would need for my build in total with that card included?

could be dont think it will make much difference. i think i would take it with 2gb if it was me just in case

is it worth the extra £10 for the 2GB version of the Zotac GTX 650 as opposed to the 1GB

More ram than stock on a card like this is basically a scam to get you to spend $10 more on the card.

Only the very top end cards hit any memory limitations and even then it's mostly at their highest resolution and with heavy anti-aliasing or similar effects. Even in that case the performance is typically poor enough regardless of the amount of ram, that it's not a worthwhile improvement.

With a middle/lower end card, you will run out of GPU performance, long before you hit any sort of memory limitations.

The one caveat to this is that some professional applications can directly utilize the ram on the card, typically for GPU accelerated tasks, but you don't seem to be doing anything of that sort.

ggeorge im getting the 6870 for my build 2gb is that to much aswell? been scratching my head over this one for some time.
