Hello guys,

I have had a hackintosh for a while now running high sierra, I built it following the guide and troubleshootings threads on here. My hackintosh has been running without issues but now I want to update it to Catalina.

I tried upgrading straight to Catalina following this guide but it always got stuck on the boot screen without launching the installer. After that I tried to follow the full guide here and still faced the same issue. Attempted configuring the installation USB following this post and some troubleshooting from this thread without any success. I seem to always run into this crash point when attempting to boot the installer: nx_volume_group_update:6352: Volume High Sierra role 0 Not a System or data volume. I included the clover file from the USB installer I created for Catalina, screenshots from boot screen, and debug file using this tool from my current build.

Build:
- Z170N-WIFI
- Core i5-6600K LGA1151
- GEFORCE GTX 750
- Samsung SSD 850 EVO

Any help/suggestions to fix this issue?

Thanks! Removed the 750 but now I’m stuck on the clover boot screen and it doesn’t launch the installer drive, just stays on the same screen when pressed. Am I missing any kexts needed for the switch?

Did you change the BIOS/UEFI to use the integrated graphics instead of the 750 ?

No way to know unless you upload the EFI folder you have installed to the USB installer.

BIOS settings had Internal Graphics set on “auto” and I switched it to “enabled” but still having the same issues. EFI folder is included in the original post with the clover folder from the USB installer

Update: I got around to launch the installer and ran into an issue I’ve seen before. Will look into the EFI folder of the USB to see if I can fix the configuration. The battle goes on…
