Hello :)

i'm new and I'm planning to build my fist hackintosh, after a few years working in the music production business with a mac. My first question is: Is it possible - I heard its difficult- to boot from a SDD connected with M.2 PCIe 4x? And maybe you can say something about my other parts and give me advice...

There is another thread with a very detailed breakdown of a hackintosh system utilising the Samsung XP941.

I have these connected to 2 PCIe slots on an Asrock X99M Killer with twin 256Gb Samsung XP941's in a RAID0 setup:

Dual M.2 to PCIe x4 adapter
Bplus M2P4S
M.2 to PCIe x4 Cable
Bplus KZ-B23X4

as Neilhart says, it is "crazy fast"

Thanks! I will try it with clover and tell about how it works...

Does anybody know if this will boot with a GA-Z97-D3H?

(the board has no M.2 slot built in)

It might or might not. The UEFI has to have direct PCIe to CPU boot capability, usually found only on those boards with a m.2 socket built into the board.

If you want to try it and it does not work, all is not lost. You can get a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186244&cm_re=m.2_sata_adapter-_-12-186-244-_-Product adapter and still use the m.2 SSD

i actually watched a video by Gigabyte about the M.2 compatibility and they recommend looking on the M.2 support List here the link hope this helps you guys  M.2 Support List

Hmmmmm.... will the SATA connection kinda negate any speed increases from the M.2 SSD? I realize the RAID array helps still tho... just a thought.

SATA has a 6GB cap I thought... so at best in a raid0 array I would be looking at like 1200mb/s

Thank you very much for that list.
