ok, so for OpenCL, three 270x = two 280x

Does three 280x = two 290x?

My take... Kepler cards really suck at GPGPU. But they are great for gaming!

Sala medium:
1 - 270x = 1600
1 - 280x = 2400
1 - 290x = 2800

Roughly a 35% difference between the 270x and 280x. 15% difference between the 280x and 290x. Dual 290x scores 5600 while 3 280x score 7200.

For OpenCL the 280x is a really good choice since its so close to the 290x but only half the price. Gaming is a different story since 280x crossfire is only 10% better performance of a single 290x, at best. For some games a single 290x is better.

Dear All,

GTX 980 Yosemite clean install / latest (f2) nv driver / iMac 14.2 def.

Looks like this stands true. Fresh install of Yosemite and a single Gigabyte 290x OC. Waiting on 2nd 290x now.

Couldn't resist @ $250 each with native Yosemite support.

Where did you get your 290X cards for $250? I just picked up a PowerColor 290X for $300 (after rebate) from Newegg and was thinking about getting a second card. But, if i can get cards for $250, I will return my card and get yours instead.

Typically I get my stuff from newegg but I got the 280s and 290s off eBay. Only because Gigabyte's 3 year warranty is based on serial number and not the original owner's receipt like with other brands. Also, they had 2.5 years of warranty remaining.
