I did install the kext. I don't have any USB 3.0 devices to test, but 2.0 devices like flash drives work on the 3.0 ports, and even my keyboard works fine as well. The only problem is the mouse - which I fixed by plugging into the USB 2.0 port on the top of my case. Not pretty, but works for now. I'll try another mouse or get a USB 2.0 header and install on one of the back PCI bays.
Other than that, my main problem is with the random freezes. Reminds me of the Fermi freezes I used to get, but I'm running a GTX 770 now, which should not suffer from those things. Also, there's nothing on the logs at the time the freeze happens.
By the way, thank you so much for putting this guide together
You're very welcome and I'm glad you've found this guide useful. I'd recommend instead to buy a cheap 4-port USB 2.0 hub rather than a PCI card. My reason is because I have both, and I have noticed that the PCI card is not recognized by the Hackintosh. It works flawlessly for Windows but not detected on the Mac. If you instead plug a 4-port hub into the onboard USB 2.0 port, you can plug-in both mouse and keyboard in the back and be fine.
I too experience random freezes, at times, but I haven't been able to pin point it. Being that 99% of the time my system is stable, I could care less for the random freezes.
