Laptop Compatibility

Hello all these are my laptop specs. I am reading through threads right now trying to get a handle on this. I did this a long time ago with a MSI Wind. Just posted so if anyone knows of something that will give me problems might give me a heads up. Thank you for any help.

HP DV7T - 7000
i7-3610QM [email protected], 4 Cores, 8 Logical Processors

Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GT650M
Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230
Beats audio
Finger Print Reader
Mainboard - HP 181F 52.24 Chipset Ivy Bridge rev. 09 SB - HM77 Rev. 04

Read post #1 this thread.

FYI: Intel WiFi is not supported and must be replaced.

I did and I knew the wifi wouldn't work I just posted that to see if anyone with the laptop might have encountered anything. But thank you.

It is a pretty typical HD4000 Ivy laptop...

Rehabman,

While reading out your first post you mentioned,

And if you want 100% compatibility with a discrete graphics capability, perfect bluetooth and no hassles, don't look to a hack... buy a MacBook Pro.

I was wondering why not reverse the combination? i.e. install windows on a real mac? Since new MacbookPro are usually using intel base hardware. I understand there could be real problems such as mentioned here (http://www.itworld.com/article/2826...-part-2---the-good--the-bad-and-the-ugly.html)
However having said that, the overall performance could be better than running a mac on PC. Would like to know your take on this matter.

Regards,

Of course. Macs can run Windows just as well as any other PC...

So I have a Gateway NV55C laptop, wanted to see if I could get hackintosh running on this.

Quick Specs are:
4GB DDR3 Memory
Intel Core i3-370M
Intel HD Graphics
320GB Hard Drive

Aside from the HD onboard graphics, If i were to pick up a cheap videocard for this, can I get away with it?

Any assistance is appreciated. If this doesn't work I'll be picking up a Dell i7 this week.

Generally, you cannot add a graphics card to a laptop.

Ok so I found this deal on Groupon and am seriously considering it. I already hacked my work provided 8460p, but I am concerned about the the video card on this one.

I read through the initial post and am very familiar with running Mavericks on my 8460p using both Unibeast and currenty, Clover.

If you think this should work I will pull the trigger on it today. I appreciate any advice you can offer.

According to Intel's site is has Intel HD Graphics built in, so I believe I should just be able to disable the nvidia gpu.

Just because the CPU has it does not guarantee that the OEM enabled it. This may be nvidia only (and it may be supported -- I don't know for sure).

Hmmmm ok. Actually after a little due diligence I came across this at Newgg and it might be the better option. This is the exact one that I am currently using, so I know it works and will take 16GB of RAM. My firm provided my current one and that will have to go back soon during the next round of refreshes, so this will be my personal one.
