Hi guys,

i want to build a hackintosh for music production. I've heard somewhere here that the MSI Z170 PRO CARBON is compatible, what about the Z270? will it work great?

Should I go for MSI or GIGABYTE motherboard?

What about the m.2 samsung 960 evo? does anyone have experience with that? will it run smooth?

Thats the specs I have in mind:

Intel i7-6700k
MSI Z270 PRO CARBON ??
16GB BALLISTIX SPORT LT DDR4
M.2 samsung evo 960 500gb ??
H60 or higher Corsair Water cooler
Corsair 650W

Another thing, is it possible to make the airdrop work on hackintosh?

Let me know your thoughts and i'm open to new suggestions.

:)

The MSI board should be compatible, ethernet is Intel I-219V, audio chipset is Realtek ALC 1220. The necessary drivers and kexts for your ethernet can you install with Multibeast.
I don´t know the status of the audio chipset, maybe the thread can help you: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/realtek-alc1220-s1220a-owner-thread.213617/

The other hardware should be also compatible. The only problem could be the NvMe SSD, but thread should help you to get it working: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...h-ionvmefamily-using-class-code-spoof.210316/

H60 or higher Corsair Water cooler
When you want to overclock your CPU, you should use a bigger cooling system.

Follow the Unibeast guide to create a bootable USB drive: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...ierra-on-any-supported-intel-based-pc.200564/

Great! I will build it this weekend or next week.
Are you running sierra or el capitan?

does the sound work perfect? because I hear somewhere that there are always issues with the sound when building a hackintosh.

Thank you for your help!

Well its working fine 98% of the time. 2% it creates kernel panic and required restarting. At the end of day its a Hackintosh and not imac or macbook. Well sound issue might be there but I am not facing the same. check the guides out on the forum for the sound. Rest good luck.
