Is 256MB on my 8600GT gives jerkiness to UI in 10.11 or chip itself?

Hi I have Gigabyte 8600GT in my mackintosh and it is silent and works OOB.
But UI is somewhat jerky. Like there is a slight lag sometimes so I wonder if this is the card? or the amount of VRAM that is a problem?

Did you maybe have same experience and changing video card helped.
Please don't recommend 980GTX.)

I am looking at something cheap, as much OOB, as possible, low power and silent. What I really want to know if this amount of ram or chip? Maybe I can test that somehow?

Thank you.

If running Mavericks, Yosemite or El Capitan, go with a GTX 740

740 is PCIe 3.0. My mobo is 2.0
And then it is not cheap , not silent, and costs much more then I would like.

I would rather go 610 or 520 if they will suffice. Second hand they are like 25$

Thank you. I have found one locally for 17$ though that one is 512MB

And UI was absolutely fluid with that on you system right?

UI=User Interface?

I had no problems with the card in the HTPC running as a media server GPU and for light gaming. This is only purpose for the card and it worked fine for that purpose. I used the low profile bracket and the HDMI port to the video screen.

OK, so far I've bought Asus ENGT520 SL/DI/512MD3(LP) card.

On Clover with Inject NVidia=True it is working OOB.
Test shows it is either on par with my 8600GT or faster (Like 2x in OpenGL and 1.5x in Quartz by XBench)

From iStat Menus it doesn't show that I now have more video ram — seems like OS X tries to use all available VRAM for paging open windows.

Also I discovered that sleep is functional now, so it was 8600GT giving me problems with sleep (Gigabyte Silent Pipe II model)
And yes interface is definitely more fluid now. Though I would definitely update later to a more powerful (and with more VRAM) card when more powerful silent models will become cheap on used market.

P.S. I was not able to run Luxmark since it was crashing — is it that problem with OpenCl not working on 4xx/5xx series?

UPDATE: Latest Nvidia Web driver helped with OpenCL problem. And also added a bit to OpenGL benchmarks)

Well, changed card for 630v2 1GB Asus silent model recently (GK208) and it is even better.
Now I have some free video ram (looking at atMonitor) and it does seems as fluid as I want.

Also no need for Nvidia web driver with this card. Everything is running OOB on Clover.
