Never seen a price this low for a 6 core Intel i5. Has the fully supported UHD630 graphics if you can't budget in a graphics card yet. Just make sure to pair it with a 10th gen Intel motherboard so you can use the iGPU. An example would be a Z490 or H470 board. Adding a supported AMD card for gaming or content creation is also an option once the prices fall back to normal levels.

If you're on a very limited budget, this Asus B460M board would pair with it nicely. Has HDMI and DVI outputs. It does use the H470 chipset.

Here's the Gigabyte version of the same B460M mATX motherboard.

For just $230 you've got a foundation for a fully supported 10th gen system. Ram prices are very low too so you can upgrade from older hardware and get the longest possible macOS support until Apple drops all Intel support in 202x ??? We don't know for sure.

An Nvme PCIe 3.0 boot drive will make this really fast for running Catalina through Ventura. Great performance on a small budget. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HKG6SDF/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

After reading this post, it took me a loooong while to pull the trigger on this budget friendly "My LAST Hackintosh" to replace my boot looped 5960X Asus X99-A :(. No budget replacement on x99 boards! Recycling the RAM, VEGA 56, cooler and case, but the tax!

But today at $112!!!

Newegg Deal, but NOT Z490:

@blueberrymac if you are using a Z590 board then you should look to see if the 'i5-10400F' CPU is available at a lower price. As the 10th Gen IGPU won't work with the Z590 Motherboard in macOS.

The last natively supported Intel chipset is the 400-series, which is why @trs96 recommended the Z490, H470 & B460M boards.

The best price on a used 10400F on Amazon is $110 so not much of a savings going with that. Used CPUs usually don't include the CPU cooler. If anyone still uses those anyway.

$100 off the Gigabyte Z490 Gaming X on Newegg, now $119!
Original retail was over $200 so that's a great choice to pair with the tenth gen i5-10400.

Chipset and UHD630 iGPU compatible with macOS Catalina through Ventura. Super deal.

Looks like a few User Builds have been posted to this site too.

Looks like Newegg has over 50 Gigabyte or Asus branded Z490 motherboards. 18 of those are new Gigabyte boards that are not open box or refurbished. So anyone getting this i5-10400 can easily find a new tenth gen board to pair with. Build your last new hackintosh to keep running the latest macOS version for as long as is possible. For not a lot of cash. If you already have a case and PSU, the build should be less than 600 USD. You can hardly buy a new base model M1 Mac mini for that price. Those only come with a fixed 8GB of ram and a 256GB NVMe SSD. Not enough in 2022. With that little amount of ram it puts a lot of wear and tear on the mini's SSD.

Apple has not replaced the 27" iMac yet. The M2 Mac Pro is no where to be seen. Intel support will still be here next year. There are hundreds of millions of Intel Mac users Apple wants to keep in the ecosystem so we've still got a few good years of hackintoshing left.
