@xron - I haven't seen the airdrop feature either, does it only show up when 2 compatible mac's are around? Do you have another mac to test with?

Hi, and thanks again, my Lion install is working good so far, some little issues, here and there, but overall great!

No, I don´t have another Mac to test with.
From what I have read, Airdrop is there already, but I am not sure!
It´s probably the Wifi Card, which is the Broadcom 1390, unsupported for Airdrop, I guess.
I wondered, is there a newer one to replace this card? Which one do you have?

I tried the above mentioned methods for the Trackpad, but I couldn´t get the Preference Pane working either, although the trackpad is working, in basic functionality. Scrolling in Safari works, too! I mostly use a magic mouse anyway.

Hope you got everything working in your new machine ...

Hi Every One,

Ok touchpad seems to be working following the instructions (Thanks a lot),

Unafortunatelly I have these message

Also revised al the 17 Steps, seems to be ok.

SOLVED REPLACED WITH NEW USB

Install is in progres..................

Thanks in advance

Hi guys I´m Here again,

Completed the installation booted the Lion on the HDD and I have another trouble, The assitant says that can´t continue because I haven´t any mouse connected. But the trackpad works (because added AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext and ApplePS2Controller.kext).

Also tried with usb mouse with the same results.

SOLVED with bluetooth dongle and magic mouse, but still not recongnize my keyboard and can´t continue.

It seems dificult to get lion to run on the Laptop!!!!

Thanks in advance

I use an actual mac airport card.

See this image: http://img.alibaba.com/wsphoto/v0/46787 ... 00x200.jpg

Go on eBay and search for 'airport pcie card', they aren't expensive.

The only thing is, could it be that airdrop only works with 802.11N cards?

Update: "AirDrop will require newer Wi-Fi hardware (newer meaning maybe as old as 2008 or 2009) that allows simul. network/ad hoc"

Ok Guys, Finally get Working Lion but with a few issues:

-Wifi not work
-Sleep now work
-When boots runs assistant telling that there isin´t keyboard.

Thanks to ellnic for this guide and mmfesq for the help

If startup hangs, it is the ACPI and PCI kexts that are the problem. I had the 1390 wireless card before I recently upgraded to wireless N (which I recommend you do since it cost me only $20.) However, the wireless is not likely your problem since the IO80211Family.kext will simply not load if there is a problem with it. The only thing that I am aware of that causes the startup process to hang (without error message) is ACPI/PCI. Double-check that you have the SL 10.6.7 version (not 10.6.8). I attached the ones that work on my 1720. Just insert them into S/L/E on your USB stick, make a new Extensions.mkext and put it in the location Ellnic identified in his post.

Thank You, but that didn't help either. Will let you know how it turns out in the end. Thanks again!

Thanks for the info on the Wifi Card! I will check it out.
Yes, its probably so, only newer cards are supported! Are there any newer Airport Cards for sale, I mean the newer Airdrop compatible ones? At the moment, there is no other Mac around, so it won´t make sense anyway, but it might change, so it would be a nice feature to have, but not a very important one.

Update:
There is a thread about it here, but it´s not Dell specific, but surely worth to check out.

At the end of the post, there is a hint to Airport compatible Mini PCI Card.
Apple Atheros AR9280 AR5BXB92 Mini Pci-e AGN 300Mbp

Would this card fit into an Inspiron?

As for your WiFi, you may need to use the IO80211Family.kext that matches the IOPCIFamily.kext you used. Alternatively, you can edit the Info.plist within the kext at the end so that the reference to IOPCIFamily.kext is the right version. In mine, I think I had to change it from 2.6.1 to 2.6. It worked after that.

Edited info.plist in IO80211Family.kext and can´t find any reference to IOPCIFamily

Can you attach a copy of the IO80211Family.kext ?

Thanks in advance

Hey,
I Followed Your Guide and Successfully Installed Lion on my DELL INSPIRON 1525.

What's Missing is Sleep , Sound,Ethernet and Battery Status amongst the daily things I would require.

I had to Use Voodoo Kexts for my Touchpad to Work.
The Display was Way awkward because of the dsdt file mismatch.
This dsdt worked for me.
http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.p ... topic=1294

The Wifi Did not Work out of the Box .
I followed
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofive ... 51092.html and
replaced the IO80211Family.kext and IONetworkingFamily.kext .
I also placed BroadcommFix.text in my E/E Folder.

:) That's about it .

Thank you!
It wud b great if someone figures out sound and sleep :) ...

Edit - To Get Sound , I downloaded VoodooHDA from http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/down ... p&can=2&q=
After Running The Installer , I restarted - Opened System Preferences > Sound > Select Output Device as Speaker . :D

Can´t get the wifi to work, downloaded Mac 10.6.7 Combo update and extracted with pacifist IO80211.kext and replaced in S/L/E with no results.

don´t know what to do
