Installation Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2

I've been following this tutorial, and I get stuck with

mach-0 file bad magic number

in step 6 when I enter
-v UseKernelCache=No GraphicsEnabler=No IGPEnabler=Yes IGPlatformID=0D220003

on boot. I get 4 lines and then the bad magic number thing prints twice and then I'm back to the boot screen?

Any tips?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like your Unibeast or the kernel itself has probably got corrupted.

What size is the kernel file on the Unibeast installer ?

Hey WonkeyDonkey, thanks for the speedy response.

I'll check when I get home... but the mach_kernel file I copied from the zip file that was attached to your post. Can you provide the checksum for the mach_kernel file so I can check when I get home tonight?

Thanks in advance!

Page 1 of this thread has all the required checksums.

for some reason, my mach_kernel was corrupt. I redownloaded and reinstalled via your instructions and rebuilt the unibeast stick.

I had some weird issues where it wouldn't boot from internal mSATA, but reinstalling it from unibeast fixed it(???).

I also added

<key>Timeout</key>
<string>2</string>

to /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist so Chimera won't wait forever for a selection.

I just need to confirm that audio over HDMI works... this may be the most straightforward and easiest install for me.

Thanks!

HDMI audio is confirmed as working using the current version of the guide, yep.

Hi,

Thanks for the great work!!

I'm having a MAC_CPU_TEXT issue.

OS : Mavericks 10.9.4
Language: French
Ram Memory : 16 GB Crucial 1600 MHz DDR3

SSD / Hard Drive : Crucial MX100 512GB SSD
Wifi/Bluetooth card or devices : BCM94352 not configured at the moment (will do that after this post)
Maker & Model of display : Vivitek Qumi Q7 (videoprojector, works fine!)
Display connection type i.e HDMI or DisplayPort : DisplayPort
Whether you are using an adaptor cable or not : I'm using a DisplayPort adaptor with HDMI cable
If it is a boot related error, a clear and legible screenshot: boot0 error before but solved

I'm using this string:
Code:
[COLOR=#444444][FONT=Calibri]<key>MAC_CPU_TEXT</key>
[/FONT][/COLOR][COLOR=#444444][FONT=Calibri]<string>%1$@  1.3 Ghz Intel\U00ae Core\U2122 i5 4250U</string>[/FONT][/COLOR]

But the Unicode characters ® & ™ are not displaying at all.

See here: ScreenIntelNUC_CPUTEXTissue.png

How to solve that, please?
Thanks in advance!! :p

EDIT:

I replaced that:
Code:
MAC_CPU_TEXT = "%1$@ 1.3 Ghz Intel\U00ae Core\U2122 i5 4250U";

By that:
Code:
MAC_CPU_TEXT = "%1$@ 1.3 Ghz Intel® Core™ i5 4250U";

Maybe the first one works in English (not in French), and the second string works in English & French?

Maybe you should update your guide =)

And it works now!

I dont possibly have the option or time to test every single language. Glad you have it working though.
