For anyone interested in creating their own ssdt, here is a really good youtube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK8sHsQ-76Q
So... after extracting the SSDT and copy to the Extra folder... ... it's too easy to be true.

Doesn't really seem to be totally correct. This update (and... erhum... future OSX-versions... "maybe"...) seems to be picky about p-states. There HAS to be one entry for every 100MHz.

I think if you follow the procedure in the video and then edit the ssdt using some of the tips from revogirl's blog, that may be the answer. Something worth reading here:

Going to play around with this later today if I have time...

Yea, thats the way. But that last part is important. You have to edit it. Just extracting and add to Extras like they do in the video isn't enough.

I guess we need to start an SSDT database and write a tutorial on how to edit it for each particular processor.

Well, this should be fixable though Chameleon/Chimera as well. Just have to update the p-state generation-thingy to be more like the one in Revoboot. Thats up to some other (real) genius though, haha

So yes, I was not mistaken. It's harder than I thought. But we have to hope in the guys who develope Chimera/Chameleon and trust that they will solve this "little" issue.

has anyone noticed youtube html5 videos playing really poorly in 10.7.4? they seem to pause every few seconds and drop a frame or two. it seems to happen in both Safari and Chrome and turning off youtube html5 player resolves it.

I'm going to have a go, i7 2600K stock speed, no overclocking.

Well, I had a go at this; and much to my surprise, it worked.

Code:
MSRDumper CoreMulti(36)
MSRDumper PStatesReached: 16 23 35 36 37 38

Wow! I'm shocked - my little locked processor is happy to turbo boost to 38x for single threaded load and happily runs at 35x under full load. It seems that under 10.7.4 turbo boost is being triggerred more aggressively as Intel specified. Perhaps even better then windoze. Neat-o!

** I used the SSDT.AML attached to a previous message here -- no mods; I tried it on a whim.

Well, I don't think it is. If you have any DSDT experience at all, creating this SSDT is simple once you know how to do it and where to start. And having a correct SSDT-table instead of letting Chameleon/Chimera create one on fly every single boot seems like a much more solid solution in the long run.

When attempting an overclock would we not have to edit the SSDT to accomodate the new turbo ratios? I see some advantages to having Chimera create one on the fly, as long as it's doing it properly!

But for non-"K" skus, I definitely see your point. No reason not to make the edits.
