Thanks in advance for your consideration -

I'm a complete NewBe, but I do think I did alot of research prior and searching the forums for answers since.

Anyway . . . My install hangs at the Apple install splash screen with no "status dial" ever appearing.

I ran the iBoot Haswell 1.0.1 from CD/DVD
I used Retail version of Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DVD

Here are command switches I used to get to the attached screen shot:

-x -v PCIRootUID=0 GraphicsEnabler=No

In case my system info doesn't show or is incomplete:

ASUS Z97-AR Bios ver. 2012
Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz
On-Board Video - No Graphix Card insatlled
Crucial Ballistics Sport XT (2) 8GB - 1866MHz
Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
LG Internal UH12NS30 BD-Rom
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Corsair CX750M

REMOVED FOR TROUBLESHOOTING:
- EVGA Geforce GTX 960 SSC
- TP-Link N900 PCI-E (Model TL-WDN4800)

Here's the end of Output Screen:

From the pic it looks like it does not like your CPU.

GE=no should not be needed,

Try boot with -v cpus=1

Thanks for your reply and patience.

We, (I'm working this build with my 8 year old son), were able to get Snow Leopard 10.6.3 loaded and run MultiBeast > "EasyBeast".

NOW It will not boot native.

When I use the iBoot Haswell:

1) simple "Enter" boot on the Snow Leopard drive I get stuck at the Apple splash screen (no progress indicator).

2) -x -v cpus=1
boot on Snow Leopard drive

I get this:

View attachment 131193

3) -x -v (no "cpus=1")

yields this:

View attachment 131194

Please advise.

Thanks,

Roy

Of course it will not boot native. There is no support for the Haswell 97 series PCH is Snow Leopard. With a Z97 board the only reason to install 10.6. is to update to 10.6.8 for the app store and download Yosemite.

What you outlined is exactly my intended course.

BUT, now following the SL Install & 1 round of MultiBeast I'm unable to get the OS to load using the iBoot Haswell disk and:

-x -v cpus=1

Error - Haswell boot post SL install -x -v cpus=1.jpg

-x -v

Error - Haswell boot post SL install -x -v.jpg

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Roy

Yes, re-install and do not use MultiBeast - you just make it worse.

Boot with iBoot Haswell
swap iBoot CD for SL DVD
wait until drive spins up and down, hit f5 and install SL
reboot, swapping SL DVD for iBoot CD in the process,
then get your user set up and get to desktop.
download the 10.6.8 update (combo) and install it, reboot with iBoot CD, select SL icon and boot to desktop
download Yosemite update from App Store
create USB installer
install Yosemite

should be relatively painless ( at least, it won't hurt me a bit  )

Alright . . . .

Did a fresh install following your steps after erasing the drive, partitioning & renaming to ensure complete install.

Made it through 10.6.8 combo update > rebooted

Upon reboot - CPU panic:

Error - iBoot Haswell post install (v2) SL and 10.6.8update.jpg

Thanks (again),

Roy

You still using iBoot Haswell? Does the BIOS for your board have a CSR lock/unlock option? If no option to unlock the CPU MSR in BIOS you need to use -x on boot to keep IntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from loading.
