also a Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z370-P/ 10.14.2 here... all files are edited like described > CPU Unknown won`t change! Any tips? thank you!!!

@custo2018, please update your profile (account details) with your Motherboard, CPU and iGPU or Graphics Card(s).
updated!

I used this tutorial to change System logo, macOS Mojave and SMBIOS Model.
SMBIOS Model custom doesn`t stay and it`s possible for me to change the CPU Model!

It still seems to be a mystery how to change CPU Type in HS and Mojave what is not often the case here with other topics :O

I searched the internet for CPU type codes (i9-9900K) to enter in Clover but now I guess there is no such number since there is currently no Apple computer with that CPU.

Only saw this:

Mystery solved... maybe.

Kept getting the wrong speed showing up (I'm overclocking) so added the real speed to the processor string.

Using shael's post...

XML:
<key>UnknownCPUKind</key>
<string>4.7 GHz Intel Core i7 - 4790K</string>

To prevent the standard speed cropping up, change the following key to...

XML:
<key>NxCPUFormat</key>
<string>%2$@</string>

Seems to work for me so hopefully it will work for you.

any solutions?

I had this problem. I opened AppleSystemInfo.strings in BBedit and changed the string under UnknownCPUKind to what I wanted, but Clover Configurator wouldn't let me change CPU 'type' to unknown on my config.plist. So I just entered the number zero in the field and saved it. When I rebooted, the changes I made in AppleSystemInfo.strings showed up in about this mac.

I can’t get this to work in Catalina. And we have a new file in there too, Processors.strings
