HP PROBOOK 4540 S HELP.........

Ive already built a desktop Mackintosh. I bought the prebook cause I need a laptop for music stage use.Ive followed the guides and given it to a more experienced mate but no joy . Can't get the boot loader to setup screen on EL CAPTAIN

INTEL i5-2450 2.50 GHZ.
INTEL SERIES 7 CHIPSET C216
HD3000 GRAPHICS
8GB RAM
SAMSUNG 256 SSD (ALSO TRIED SATA DISC)

Anyone had similar failure or is it a basket case.
Any tips please to get this thing working before I get the sledge hammer out !
