Dear all,

I am a newbie here, and have a problem instaling MacOS on my old HP nx6110 laptop.

I tried almost everything before writing this post, tried Yosemite downloaded from AppStore Purchases, with Unibeast 5.2.0., not managed, got Mach-0 file has bad magic number.

Tried with Unibeast 6.2.0., also no luck.

Tried with Iboot 3.3.0. and retail DVD from my old MacBook White MacOs 10.6. Leopard got still waiting for root device, Intel Power Management.

I have seen on youtube it is possible, can someone help me make it work? Or is there anyone who has made it already, to help me with some instructions.

Help PLEASE!!! Want to give this laptop to my mother for e-mail and surfing, it should do quite nice...

THNX

Follow the Clover guide linked from the FAQ.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html

Although you should read the FAQ for an overview of issues, the Clover guide is linked from the first question: "Q. Where do I start?", just after the bold face "Clover Guide".
Here is a direct link, just to be clear:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

Also, your profile must be filled out with complete details as requested in the FAQ, again under "Q. Where do I start?". All seven details requested are equally important.

And if you have an issue (after following the guide), or on any other problem, you must provide a detailed description of the problem including information that helps us understand what you're doing. Always attach "Problem Reporting" files as per FAQ.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html
The required files and data are fully detailed in the last question in the FAQ:
"Q. What are typical "Problem Reporting" files?"

Dear RehabMan,

first of all, thank you for your reply...

I have read so many posts on this page and forum that my head is spinning, I have been fighting with this laptop for over 48 hours with no success at all, apart from getting more and more grey hair....

I have read your instructions at the following link:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

and to be sincere, there aree too many "if"s for "then" to ever happen. If UEFI, If Legacy, if this, if that...

Is there a possibility to have a guide for us, common mortals, not being experts in making such installations, "stupid" users that are used to put a DVD in the drive and install OS??? :)

My laptop has the following configuration:

Detailed specifications can be found here:

https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-compaq-nx6110/specs/

Regarding BIOS, it is a very old and very stupid BIOS, with NO UEFI boot options, it is over 12 yrs old laptop. The only relevant thing I can set in it is the boot order, nothing else, there is no AHCI, legacy, nothing.

Is there a possibility to get instructions or a step by step guide for this specific laptop, like download this, do this, put only these kexts, boot, install, enjoy, etc?

Or should I just instal Ubuntu on it, tried it, works quite OK, although I do not like it much, I am a Mac user?

Thank you very much for your effort.

Your laptop is very old... might not be supported with current macOS at all.
You might use google to search for old guides.

OK, my profile is now filled in.

and of course it is old, if it was operational on Win7, would put it on, give to my mom and forget. But it supports only XP.

Have seen on the internet it is possible to make a Mac out of it,.

Have Yosemite downloaded from AppStore Purchases, and also Leopard 10.6 DVD from my Macbook white.

Is there a way to make it a Mac for an old lady?

Suggest you read such information carefully...

I would not suggest hackintosh for those that are not technical.

Yes, I have read all the information, but it was with a distribution, therefore pirate software, and I don't want to do that. I have legal copies of MacOS, that I would like to use.

You are wrong about old people, they are THE BEST users. They will never do anything wrong, not be going messing around system settings, or do anything that would crash down the system. They plug the computer in, turn it on and use the applications installed on it. And if they need anything new, they call and ask for it.

But OK, you are entitled to your opinion.

If you are not able to help, I will keep trying myself, until I get it done.

And if anyone else had any experience with similar or same configuration, I would appreciate any help.

Thank you for your effort.

No experience with hardware as old as yours, and no desire to look information up for you...

Maybe someone will reply (eventually) with a complete guide, but given the age of the laptop and the fact that technical types like to run more recent hardware, you may be waiting a while (forever).
