HP Envy 15t-J100; Trouble booting from HD and problems with Chimera

Tried again to be sure... neither the mac or windows partition show up...

This must have had something to do with copying the folder because my actual EFI partition folder does not have duplicates.

Post the EFI folder *you are actually using*.

I'm not sure how that happened but your right, something was wrong with it... I reran Pike's script, this time making sure iasl was in /usr/local/bin/ as well as in /usr/bin/. It made a new ssdt.aml which it loaded into /Extra. I copied it /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched and rebooted... still no progress though.

On the bright side, Ioreg now works with ssdt.aml installed (when booted from Chimera) which it didn't before.

I can understand why things weren't working before. You can't install a text file as AML. Really, the bootloader should do better checking against this kind of "pilot error" here.

I know, I'm shocked it worked as well as it did with it installed.

That looks better... if you don't see any drives with that config.plist, I can't explain it as I'm using the same GUI section on my u430. Try setting Scan=Yes in GUI section.

Also, eliminate unnecessary drivers64UEFI (PartitionDxe, DataHubDxe). And... you are missing HFSPlus.efi (again). File management challenged today?

Finally, you can try without patched ACPI files. This system will boot without patched DSDT/etc.

You can also try booting with/without caches (hit space bar in Clover for menu).

I know, I'm shocked it worked as well as it did with it installed.

Usually it results in KP.

I guess I was file management challenged haha, I deleted those two and added HFSPlus.efi and then switched to Scan=Yes in GUI and Voila, verbose output!

Sadly it just said that my version of mac would not run or something of the sort which I was easily able to fix by changing my smbios in my config.plist to MacbookAir6,2 instead of MacbookPro11,2

I'm am now finally able to boot into clover with graphics and everything else I could do using Chimera... Now the question is Audio... Using your patch_hda I made the injector script which I placed in /EFI/kexts/10.9/ I also have your kext patches in my config.plist (two for applehda and one for azulframebuffer). Also, my dsdt has (I believe) the hdmi audio patch (I tried adding the patch and it said there would be 0 changes). Despite this hdmi audio still does not work... I'm guessing there is something I'm missing but I don't know what....

Also, my brightness keys are still off (I made sure I used the updated keyboard patch). I need to hold Fn to get the keys to work while I do not need to for audio... My ioreg is attached.

Are you installing 10.9.3? Going from memory, 10.9.3 was the first to support MacBookPro11,2... (prior versions required more editing of system files).

I'm am now finally able to boot into clover with graphics and everything else I could do using Chimera... Now the question is Audio... Using your patch_hda I made the injector script which I placed in /EFI/kexts/10.9/

It will not work there. Must be installed to /S/L/E. Remove it from kexts/10.9. Install to /S/L/E. Repair permissions & rebuild cache. Reboot. If audio still doesn't work, rebuild cache again, and reboot.

Also, make sure you have vanilla AppleHDA installed.

I also have your kext patches in my config.plist (two for applehda and one for azulframebuffer). HDMI audio patch is applied to both DSDT and SSDT4. Best to use 'make patch' so you are certain it is done correctly.

Also, my brightness keys are still off (I made sure I used the updated keyboard patch). I need to hold Fn to get the keys to work while I do not need to for audio... My ioreg is attached.

Did you install the latest VoodooPS2Controller? https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller

Nope, I'll have to upgrade once I get everything working and get my Wifi card... I'll switch over to MacBookPro11,2 once that happens.

It will not work there. Must be installed to /S/L/E. Remove it from kexts/10.9. Install to /S/L/E. Repair permissions & rebuild cache. Reboot. If audio still doesn't work, rebuild cache again, and reboot.

I repatched ssdt4 to include hdmi audio patch. HDMI audio works now but it also affected my brightness controls. I could still use my brightness keys to adjust the "brightness" and the system preferences slider but the screen itself didn't change at all.

Also, as far as hdmi audio goes, I now only get hdmi audio. I installed vanilla AppleHDA and my internal speaker no longer have any output and nor does the headphone jack... Any ideas why this might have happened?/ Maybe I don't have kext patches right? But it doesn't make sense because I'm using your config.plist and hdmi works... I also have the injector (AppleHDA_IDT76e0_Envy.kext) installed in /S/L/E/

Did you install ACPIBacklight.kext?

Did you repair permissions & rebuild cache?

What do you see in SysPrefs->Sound?

You should really use 'make patch' so you are certain all files are patched correctly.

Post your EFI folder...

Did you install ACPIBacklight.kext?

Yes. This is installed.

Yes. It shows nothing until hdmi audio is plugged in. Then it shows hdmi audio. When removed, it shows nothing again.

I just used 'make patch' and got the exact same problem as before. When using it, I kept ssdt-2 and ssdt from before. I also renamed ssdt-4 to ssdt-1 after using 'make install'

SSDT-2.aml could be causing a problem. There is an IGPU._DSM method there. Make sure to remove all _DSM methods from all DSDT/SSDTs before starting to patch.

You can use the patch here: https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch
Apply: "Remove all _DSM methods"

Make sure you apply that patch early... not last. It will remove all _DSM methods, native or not.
