Yes, many ProBooks share this audio codec. 8x60p too...

You don't have Audio because you don't complete step 16. Please stop installing other kexts, and remove the kexts that you manually installed (VoodooHDA).

What are you confused? There is no EFI folder in Mavericks partition.

Maybe the DSDT is different and not compatible with the patches... Or, like you say, user error...

When you installed Clover, it will automatically mount it for you. You will see EFI drive in Finder. Now you restart, so you have to mount EFI manually. Again, "Search in the guide before asking questions".

That scrambled screen is somewhat "normal" when booting verbose or booting the recovery partition. I don't think there is a fix for that yet. Eventually it fixes itself (when you reach the recovery and/or installer).
 
Also, if your laptop uses Ultrabook CPU, redownload new config.zip and use correct config.plist there.

Testing:

working:
old clover + old HD4000 config
clover 2300 + old HD4000 config

not working:
old clover + new HD4000 config for ultrabook
old clover + new HD4000 config
