Is there anyone who know how to verify that High Sierra is really Using hardware (Intel 6th or 7th corei7) acceleration for Encoding or decoding H265 a.k.a. HEVC
Is it a new QuickSync (well Known for H264)?

you can try download some H265 video clips, play the video on your Build 3 machine with quicktime player, observe the CPU usage.

compared the results with intel GPU with Nvidia GPU. HEVC encode/decode should be supported by 6th gen Core above GPU.

I don't think HEVC is supported on your GTX980 Ti / GTX1080 Ti machine.

Thanks for your answer!
let me rephrase my question : is there any clue to know if hardware acceleration for HEVC is "on"
like in the GUI of MacX Video Converter Pro with QuickSync
Thanks

Hi Oli. I see that you have the same MOBO that I do. I would be willing to pay you money if you could help explain to me how you got High Sierra working on your setup and also sharing your EFI folder? I am desperately trying to get it to work after getting my 1080ti and wanting High Sierra to natively recognize my NVMe drive.

is that the complete opposite of this forum spirit ? a little bit shocking ....
My Modo still only run Sierra on SATA-SSD.
From what I've heard/read High sierra is more tolerant with all the Nvme :)

Ok, thanks anyways. Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess. :)

I have High Sierra running on 1080ti using new nvidia web drivers and when I open Photos app video shot on my iPhone 7 in 4k HVEC shows a little badge icon with the message "The full-resolution video is unsupported.". So I guess HVEC is not supported on the pascal cards with web drivers?

That the hidden question !!
High Sierra HEVC capabilities are hardware dependant ...Apple Hardware dependant ... and may be NVidia isn't Apple Hardware anymore ....
Just guessing
It's shame because Pascal-Nvidia have Hardware to do this exact same task ...
