I am also very new to installing OSX on a computer. I have tried on my older computer and was never successful. I have the same type of computer you have and would like to know what method was used to install. You mentioned that you used the UniBeast. If I used that method, do I need to have Snow Leopard already installed? Any help as to first steps would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

No, you don't need to have Snow Leopard. You better to have the Lion. Order the USB Lion from Apple. Or if you have Mac, download it from the app store.

Can you please download the DSDT Patcher and extract the DSDT from yours XPS? What BIOS you have? A06? I have the A06, the DSDT extract didn't look like those extract from XPS 15 or 17. I would like to see your DSDT.aml if you can extract for me.

Follow the Unibeast Guide:
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/10/ ... using.html

Also, download the MultiBeast 4.1.2 from the download menu.

All you need is the the UserDSDT, FakeSMC, NullCPUPowerManagement, PS/2 Keyboard/Mice and Trackpad in MultiBeast.

Then Patch the SpeedStepper I post before. After the SpeedStepper patch you can delete the NullCPUPowerManagement Kext from S/L/E folder.

Also you need to put your DSDT.aml into /Extra folder

For the Sound, you need ALC665 patch I post before.

For the Wireless, you have buy the compatible Wireless Card from ebay and replace the Centrino Card that come with the machine.

I attached a file of the DSDT.aml. I was able to extract it and then just copied and pasted that info into a text document and saved it under that name.

For this guide, will I have to do a clean installation meaning will my Windows OS have to be erased? I want to be able to dual boot into either Windows OS or Mac OS

In the DSDT Editor, File -> Save DSL as. any name with .dsl extension. Please.

Ok, I got it loaded into DSDT Editor. It look exactly the same as mine. You can use my DSDT.aml.

For dual boot Windows. I don't know how to install the OSX into the current Windows Drive. It may not be able too. I did try to move the original Windows 7 drive to Media drive bay (with the Caddy). It won't boot from there. I haven't touch the hard drive that come with Dell. It still have the all the Windows 7 and softwares in it. I got a new drive and partition into 2, 1 for OSX and 2 for Windows 7. I believed you have to install Windwos 7 first and then OSX. I can dual boot into both OS.

Hello Kfphoto,

i tried to install this AppleACPIBatteryManager kext but it didn't work for me. Could attach the file that u used here? Did u just install the kext? How did u install it?

Any progressions with shutdown and sleep?

Thanks a lot!

anyone??

Forgot to mention that the wireless card didn't work, but I ordered the Atheros AR5BHB92 from ebay and waiting it to arrive.

I got the Battery working last night with the AppleACPIBatteryManager kext. But the original non-working battery indicator still showing in the manual bar. Anyone know how to remove the non-working battery icon?

Also, please help with the sleep or shutdown.

Thanks

Keith

DSDT.amlDSDT.amlDid you run this:

Download the SpeedStepper from here:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... pic=258611

Backup AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext first

then run as:
sudo ./speed_stepper_lion_1072 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement

The made the shutdown work, sleep doesn't work at all. But it will shutdown when closing the lip. using the attach DSDT.aml.

Thanks

Keith
