I'm trying to setup a hackintosh with my Gigabyte Z390 Xtreme + i9-9900k.

I've been following the OpenCore Vanilla Guide and am lost on the ACPI step, working with DSDT and SSDT.

I thought it may be better to SHOW where I'm getting stuck and confused, so I uploaded a video to YouTube demonstrating the chaos.

I appreciate anyone's help!

  1. Goto my Z390 build thread (link is below in my signature).
  2. Download and unZip the latest OpenCore EFI from post #1.
  3. Navigate to /EFI/OC/ACPI/.
  4. Copy SSDT-AWAC.aml, SSDT-EC-USBX.aml, SSDT-PLUG.aml, and SSDT-PMC.aml.
  5. Paste in to your own /EFI/OC/ACPI/.

These are all the files you need to get your system up and running.

thanks pastry, really appreciate this. Will I run into issues having the Xtreme version of the board compared to your Gaming version?
In the READ ME!!! file that's included in the .zip it shows to fill in the MAC address; do I need to do that still, or am I just copying the 4 .aml files you pointed to?
Thanks again.

Delete all the SSDTs you currently have. I don't know if you compiled them correctly or not... The SSDTs that I listed above will work for you without problems. Don't use the SSDTs that I didn't list.

The Read Me file in my EFI folder is intended for those who will be using the entire EFI folder as-is, but since you are only taking the SSDTs from it, you can ignore the Read Me file.

You may want to read post #1 and post #2 of that thread. It has info regarding MSR unlock that can help you.

Do you know if your steps in post #1 about unlocking MSR will work for my Gigabyte Z390 Xtreme? I think they are similar but not exact.. so should I follow steps in post #2?

Thanks -

To be safe, I suggest going through the steps in post #2 to confirm that the address is correct.

Cool, I got the same numbers after going through all your steps in post #2.
Now looking at post #1 again I'm not clear on something -
You explain for "Unlock MSR" to copy the EFI folder to the EFI partition on my USB drive.

I have my USB drive that is called "Boot" from going through all the OpenCore steps on Windows. Inside that "BOOT" drive is EFI > BOOT > BOOTx64.efi. Am I replacing the file there with the file that I downloaded in your step 1?

Or if not, do I boot from the USB drive and then install macOS? I see in your instructions you list "Unlock MSR" and then "Create Your USB Installer and Install macOS", so I think I am jumping in at a different section, having already done a lot in Windows, following the steps from SnazzyLabs guide.

Sorry for the confusion but if you could clarify what I need to do now that I've confirmed the numbers from post #2 I'd appreciate it.
