HDMI Audio and Video

When plugging my HDMI out into a display both screens work but heavily flicker and go in and out. After unplugging the HDMI the laptop screen continues flashing until reboot. Am I missing some kext or driver or is HDMI out not supported at all? Lenovo y50-70, Mavericks (latest).

That is the exact guide I used. Everything works flawlessly besides the GPU (I've been told it isn't supported) and the HDMI out. If I changed the system definitions to an iMac would that solve it since normally they have HDMI out?
