Hackintosh Samsung 480, 580 & 780 and KEXT's

Hey! I am a fellow Samsung(ian) with the r580!

I've just decided to try out my first ever hackintosh and the thing is... this is my main and only computer so I'm really trying to figure it all out before beginning and it's a little nerve-wracking. So if I'm eventually installing up to lion, but first I must get snow leopard up and running, should i try and get everything working once I'm on snow leopard? or should I wait till I'm on lion? And also, so I can find the Kexts for wifi, touchpad(with all the normal multitouch support?) keyboard, speakers, but not LAN or the mic from here? or have people found those kexts since these posts? and does the computer go to sleep okay or should i really try to figure out how to bypass those issues before i even start? and what about the Blu-Ray drive?? :crazy: Thanks, guys! I am a TOTAL newbie at this, but the way I see it is you just have to jump in... :wave:

EDIT-- and if it's not too insane, could someone consolidate all the working kexts into one post? because there seem to be a lot of different ones posted here.

hi every one,
i success install snow leopard 10.6.3 on my Samsung r580
sound , WiFi,keyboard ,and truck pad working working
my problem is DVD drive (when i open my laptop it's work great but after Several minutes i cant find it (NO DRIVE) or i cant control it (I cant open or close it ). what is the problem.
when i instal what i should be chosen from multibeast .


for me i cant boot if don't use legacy kernel . as i show many people here can boot without legacy kernel . how can do this.

Hello. I'm relatively new to this. I have got lion 10.7.3 up and running on my r580. But I need to do dsdt edits to get sleep and brightness working. I can't find an good guide on how to edit it correctly in lion. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Thanks

I have DHCP Errors with AES enabled wifi networks
I read a lot about it and it seems like there is no fix for that
I have a r780 with the Atheros wifi card
I read I can replace it with another one
which one would that be? where can I buy it?
I read there is a IMac, which has a Atheros wifi card, too.
Apple released a wifi fix for that model.
I cant apply that update - would I be able to if I change the label of my laptop to Imac? or is it possible to extract the fixed kexts from that update?
tried filejuicer already - but not luck
 
Hello all,

First I would like say to you that, thanks to you guys, I've got a (almost) fully working Samsung R580 and that I am really happy working with it.

Only things I still need to do:

- Sleep (most common problem over all the hacks).
- The numeric keypad can only be used with the Fn button pressed, except for no 5.
- The Marvell Yukon 88E8059 LAN card, cannot find any kext for this one.

If anybody of you can help me with one or more of the above I would appreciate that very much.

I read through your topic and with the mini-guides and all the info I was able to get this to 95% working. Many, many thanks for opening this topic! :D

P.S. This works (if anything at any of your laptops does not work I may help you) :

-Atheros AR9285
-Native speedstepping
-Audio, though Samsung tells me it's a ALC889 I've used the ALC269 voodoohda patched one from this topic and it works like a charm. Version 2.7.2 of course.
-Keyboard works fine (PS/2 bultin).
-Internal mouse doesn't work anymore because of my own fault. :oops:
-Power button works (I get a dialog if I press the button with shutdown / sleep options).
-Brightness Control (with the up / down arrow keys).

I used a DSDT auto patcher and patched the Brightness Control myself. Though I do not know much about DSDT it worked out fine with some good reads. ;)
 
Hello! How you enable native speedstep? I have core i5 520m processor. With my dsdt work sleep. In chameleon I enable c-state p-state this is native speedstepping? Sorry for my bad english. =)

Hi mountain man, VoodooHDA 0.2.1 is the kext but not a solution.

i am also a R780 samsung i5 lover. mountain on board too...thanks

with this v 0.2.1 your mac book pro samsung starts on random sound.
which means sometimes working sometimes not...workin

still looking 4 a best kext
 
R580 10.8.2
Voodoohda.kext working only after clear osx installation. After installing voodoobattery.kext, no sound. Thats no working together.
