Working macOS Sierra 10.12.3 on MSI DOMINATOR GT60 2PC!!! :X
Full specs:
-i7-4810MQ
-nVidia GTX 870M
-8GB RAM DDR3 1600Mhz
-Intel HM87 Chipset
It took me 4-5 days to figure out various things therefore I decided to write a quick guide, if I miss anything then please let me know. Basically, I am providing quick hints so that it take less time for anyone else working on same project. Thanks!
Keep in mind that WiFi that this laptop comes with it's not compatible with macOS Sierra or any other OSX. I replaced my Intel 7260HWM with Atheros AR5B93 , if you can`t find this WiFI card, you can follow this guide for working wifi cards on MacOS Sierra:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-airport-pcie-half-mini-v2.104850/
Keep in mind that we need Half Mini cards for this model of Laptop.
What works:
-WiFI (without any Kexts ) Atheros AR5B93
-Audio
-Intel HD4600
-Keyboard
-Trackpad
-USB 2.0-3.0,
What doesn`t work yet:
-Adjust Display Brightness
-Sleep (when it wakes, the screen remains black)
-Microphone
-Bluetooth (not sure yet, didn't tested)
-nVidia GTX 870M (not compatible with MacOS because it uses Optimus)
Steps:
1. Create the USB installer using this method: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/
2. BIOS , default settings, with UEFI mode enabled.
3. Proceed with instalation process as normal.
4. Once instalation is completed , reboot.
5. To install Clover on your HDD/SSD, use the same method from the link from Step #1, in the link follow the #2 thread.
Now after you restart, the System will not boot without Installer USB. For that you need Ubuntu/Linux USB Installation. To make it boot without Installer USB, you have to follow these steps. (I spent 1 day to fix that, but RehabMan helped me a lot, and thats why i bought a Sticker with TonyMacx86 logo (its on my MSI now) + one Coffee Mug .)
In Ubuntu/Linux terminal:
RehabMan guide:
"
# add Clover entry
sudo efibootmgr -c -L "Clover UEFI" -l "\EFI\CLOVER\CLOVERX64.EFI"
Most of the time, the new entry will be added to the BootOrder first. But if not, you can change it.
Change the argument to -o based on output from efibootmgr (assumes "Clover UEFI" entry was added as Boot0004):
Code (Text):
# change order (if needed)
sudo efibootmgr -o 4
The advantage of using 'efibootmgr' is that you won't need to rename bootmgfw.efi and Clover won't be lost as a result of Windows updates.
"
Now you should have a working Clover without Installer USB.
Next steps, based on spsingh113 (10000 thanks to him also!!): https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-msi-gt60-2oc-mac-osx-sierra.207472/
1. Get KextWizzard from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/253395-kext-wizard-easy-to-use-kext-installer-and-more/
1.1 Get Clover Configurator: https://www.tonymacx86.com/resources/clover-configurator.328/
Look on Google for the kexts that we need:
2. Intel 4600 GPU:
Open again the config.plist but this time with a text editor, and look for: IntelGfx , add this value to his field: 0x04128086.
Now you should have a working Intel HD 4600
3. Battery:
4.1 The microphone is not working.
5. Keyboard - Trackpad
--- Install RehabMan-Voodoo
For dual boot with Windows 10 from the same HDD/SSD, follow this guide: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/ , do not forget to create 2 MAC OS Journalated partitions! One will be for macOS, and one will be for Windows (when you reach windows installer, format that MAC OS Journaled to NTFS, and install as normal (spent 5-6 hours till i find that)).
Many many many many thanks to RehabMan!!!!
If someone is having trouble , don`t hesitate to contact me! I dreamt about having MacOS on this laptop from 2 years ago, but it never worked till macOS Sierra.
