The specs on that machine show it has integrated HD4000 graphics (with a discrete AMD card)...at least from what I've read on it. http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03393927
I didn't see anything in the BIOS in regard to the graphics.
Is there another type of install that would work?

Let me investigate with windows ,another thing is the discrete graphics it is still very active can see it in system info-graphics, files are hereStill nothing attached to SS02/SS03 (USB3 on USB-C port). Either your cable is bad or something else is wrong...
You should do some investigation in Windows to see how your cable works (or doesn't).

No further ideas...
Your issue may be a problem specific to your display panel (no other reports of the same issue).
