Ensure computer is set up to boot from USB either in the BIOS or press the boot menu hot key then select the USB. Simialr to what you did when installing OSX from USB its the same process to boot the USB. Also make sure the USB has not other files or folders except the boot one.
Hello ,man
I can not boot into EFI SHELL.
I have downgrade the BIOS to 1.14.
The boot mode is set as Legacy support
If I choose UEFI, I can't find the USB in boot list thought I turn secure boot to disable.

In legacy mode I got a screen

Do you have MBR partitioned, single FAT32 partition with \EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.efi.

Do you have secure boot disabled, USB boot enabled.

Did you use your BIOS hotkey to reach the boot menu and choose the USB specifically for UEFI boot?

Check rehabmans response above, also ensure the USB you are using is USB 2.0 (or below) and the USB port is USB 2.0. ensure to press the hot key to select the USB boot device.
Note that this step creating the EFI Shell USB is relatively simple requiring no complex steps just format, copy and paste the folder. if this is proving difficult then installing OSX will be a serious challenge....:problem:

The EFI Shell folder has only one folder inside named "BOOT", copy this folder only to the USB....

Actually, this a common mistake. And an error in the post #1 guide.

Per UEFI spec, it must be copied to the EFI folder on the USB, not to the root.

\EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI.

This has been pointed out numerous times here and elsewhere.

Not an error, when I did this I used a very old 128MB USB stick which can only be formatted to MBR FAT32 and obviously without an EFI partition as EFI would usually be 200mb, which is bigger than the total MB of the USB I used, copied the boot folder there and set bios to legacy mode, it boots just fine and works....... never-the-less I've updated the guide to include copying to the EFI partition and booting in legacy mode.

No EFI partition involved (if you read my post carefully, you'll see no mention of an EFI partition).

But it still needs to go to \EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.efi.

Most computers will not boot to \BOOT\BOOTX64.efi.

OKi doki, will update the guide to state \EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.efi as an alternative but i havent tested it this way...

Hi, its my first time ask Q here.
I have a DELL Inspiron 14 3443, with intel 5200U, HD5500, 4G ram. have install EI Capitan Beta 2, it setup will with Clover UEFI, but my VGA shows 4mb ram, but in the Windows 10 it shows 128mb. but in system shows Kext not loaded.
anyways, so I try to follow the Guide, and boot up with the usb in to efi grub> and it show the error has in the photo.

The attachment did not load...
anyway you are almost there.. in the shell enter

Code:
[COLOR=#000000]setup_var [/COLOR][COLOR=#000000]0x229[/COLOR][COLOR=#000000] 0x3[/COLOR]

If nothing happens enter it again. for mine i had to enter the code twice the first time for it to change.
