[Guide] Airport - PCIe Half Mini v2

Status
Not open for further replies.
Yosemite/Chimera

Asrock Z77 Extreme 4
Broadcom bcm57781 (not working)

Rosewill PCI Express Wifi Adapter (N900PCE) (It's in the Buyer's Guide)

If I have a supported Airport Card but no on-board LAN should I be able to get the Mac App to work?
(If this is a no, then I'll move on, but if I should be able to I'll add more device info)

Also my card says it is a dual band card and I don't get the 5GHz option for my wifi. (iPad gets it so its there)

Hi I've got BCM943224HMS and in 10.10 it works with MacBookAir5,1 or MacBookAir5,2 smbios. The problem is that with that mac model my cpu is stuck at highest speed (not working speedstep). So is there any other option for this card in Yosemite besides MacAir smbios?

For use any MacModel - your need patch driver AirPortBrcm4360.kext for disable "Whitelist"...
Kext Mod. TUTORIAL from link - http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1803192

Use step 1 - 18 and 27-28.

Toleda et al., thank you very much for releasing the Yosemite 5GHZ patch. I am using Clover version 2999 on Dell Latitude E7440 and was able to apply the Config patch. The card BCM4352 is being recognized as Airport Extreme and system information shows its supporting both Handoff and Instant HotSpot. However, I am unable to pair any bluetooth Devices and the wheel kept spinning but no devices show up.

I have also noticed that in WiFI the locale is 'unknown' and country code is 'XT'. I came across few posts that talked about replacing certain text like post 166 (i believe) but not sure what I am supposed to do. I appreciate if you can provide more detail.

Also after pasting patches to the config.plist i was unable to export it to the EFI/CLOVER using Clover Configurator. I copied and pasted the config.plist, however, it appeared that modified file was not recognized by CC.

Please see the attached figures for more detail. Thank you very for your help.

Regards,

Punjabigator

Is there any word why bluetooth does not work for Yosemite and the BCM94352 HMB? I've seen many people post in this thread and the bluetooth firmware uploader thread on osxlatitude that they cannot get it to work or that it works perfectly for the first few hours and then stops or works intermittently (my experience). From what I can understand of Toledas drivers it should work perfectly. Is there something we are missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

11/12/14 - Yosemite Release/BCM94352 - 5 GHz/Handoff
See Post #1.

That solved my Bluetooth problem. My mouse is smooth again. Tested Airdrop and it worked. Don't know if Handoff will work but it shows Handoff enabled. iCloud doesn't stop configuring... :/

Thanks! :D

EDIT: iCloud finished the configuration but I can't use Handoff. Both iOS and OS X are set up to work with Handoff..

EDIT 2: Tried this guy out and messed up my bt.. it's choppy again.. https://github.com/dokterdok/Continuity-Activation-Tool#continuity-activation-tool :(

I cannot get BT and WiFi working at the same time. When I try to load
BTFirmwareuploader.kext, I get an OsxAptioFixDrv Error (Allocated memory exceeded).
But if I boot from external USB (without Clover WiFi fixes and kexts) and rebuild cache,
I can boot with BTFirmwareuploader.kext but then the WiFi card is being detected as
3rd party and without 5Ghz.
Without BTFirmwareuploader.kext WiFi is detected as AirportExtreme and with 5Ghz but no
Bluetooth is working then.

I've added 6 screens. Three with BT and three with WiFi working. I titled the screens so you can see if it is for BT or WiFi working.

I can use an USB Dongle but I want to activate the combo card, any ideas?

OS: 10.10
Board: GA-Z87N-WIFI
BIOS: F5
CPU: Core i7 4790K
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 980 / Intel HD4000 (disabled)

Yes! You can edit the whitelist to enable other SMBIOS values.

Do this on your own risk! I am not responsible for a non working system. It should work without any issues but make backups before doing it!

Tools needed:
1. Hex editor (I suggest 0xHD)
2. Kext installer (like Kext Wizard)

Guide:
1. Get your Board-ID (e.g. from SMBIOS section in Clover, SMBIOS.plist or extract it from NVRAM)
2. Copy IO80211Family.kext to desktop
3. Right click it (on desktop) and select "Show package contents"
4. Go to Contents->Plugins->AirPortBrcm4360.kext
5. Right click it (on desktop) and select "Show package contents"
6. Go to Contents->Mac OS->AirPortBrcm4360
7. Open it in hex editor
8. Search (ASCI not hex) for Mac-2E6FAB96566FE58C
9. Replace it with your Board-ID (Be sure to not add or remove ANY characters!)
10. Save it
11. Install the modified IO80211Family.kext (make a Backup of the vanilla one!)
12. Repair permissions and rebuild kext cache
13. Reboot

Voila! Now you can use it with other SMBIOS values! :)

I have a solution to your problem (worked for me).

The hex patch on the original post is wrong. It's works, but it doesn't display the Locale and country code. Here's my modified patch that will change that so that the Locale is "FCC" and country code "US:

Kext to patch: AirPortBrcm4360 (Add this patch in Clover's KextsToPatch section)

These hex strings are the same as the 10.10 Yosemite 5GHz patch in the original post, except for the bold.

Find: 58 54 00 2B 18 2C 21 00 20 (Hex)
Replace: 55 53 08 0A 36 1C 47 00 0A (Hex)

I'll briefly explain. the first two sets of numbers in the "find" hex string are 58 and 54, which translate to XT. In the replace, the 58 54 is retained, thus showing the country code "XT". This whole 5GHz patch is based on changing the country code from XT to XX or anything else. If you want US, you put 55 53 as the first two sets of numbers in the hex string, because 55 53 translates to US. Thought this would help!

**PS**
If you don't live in the US and you still want to use this patch, try converting your country code (two letters representing country, I have no idea what it is in other countries) into hex and then replacing the bold with that. See if works. It's just a theory. :p

Cheers!
