[Guide] Airport - Half Mini PCIe

i have 10.8.2 running on my intel NUC. i have an HP probook 4530s with an hp-branded AR5B195 wifi/BT card, so i wanted to try one in the NUC. i found the dell variant of that chip, called DW1702, on ebay for just a few dollars.

there are 3 kexts for the AR5B195 at osx86.net. i installed the AirportAtheros40.kext, rebooted, and wifi worked.

i then edited the info.plist in the IOath3kfrmwr.kext for this card's BT vendor and device ID, which i found thru googling as 0cf3:3315. converted them to integer and replaced the existing ones in the kext with the new ones. then installed both that kext and IOBluetoothFamily.kext. rebooted, and BT works.

HTH

I'm using an Atheros AR9280 Mini PCIe in GA-H77N-Wifi (with Tonymacs DSDT, for HDMI audio).

Wifi works fine. But I have lots of messages in console:

Code:
[COLOR=#000000]05/01/13 10:00:09,000 kernel[0]: 4260.197923: ATHR: unknown locale: 60[/COLOR]

After googling, it seems related to the Atheros card. Any idea ?

The card you bought is configured for ROW. It would say FCC if it was configured for the US. Contact the seller.

Bad news.
Thanks for your answer

Hello,

I have the AR9287 Combo Card (AR3011 BT), I have edited IO8211Family.kext with 2e and am enjoying some very fast speeds. However, I was hoping to edit via DSDT instead, but nothing appears under PCI Cards in System Information and searching pci168c in IOReg reveals nothing. I'm happy as is, just hoping to enable a DSDT edit if possible.

IOReg attached:

Device (ARPT) is on Device (RP04) in IOReg. Verify dsdt/RP04/ARPT/device-id/0x2e, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00.

I have applied patch and edited device ID as above, please also check below
The edit is not correct. Delete the edits or start over. Edit Device (RP04) not RP05. ARPT already exits in RP04. Add method _DSM.

Confident I have the patch in the correct place now, see DSDT attached below.

Edit: Installed the above DSDT and changed IO80211Family.kext back to pci168c,2a instead of the pci168,2e I had before - this resulted in the icon saying WiFi: No hardware installed.

dsdt looks correct. Use device-id 30 as noted in Post #1, reply with new IOReg.
