Alright, I've done so and am able to get into my osx.

I've enabled webdrivers, but the gtx 970 is still being read as NVIDEA Chip Model.
How did you done it if you couldn't boot into it?

If anyone is interested in updating to 10.10.2, I did it myself and its now working with my GTX 980 with the new nvidia driver update released today. Here's what I did:

1. Download nvidia drivers here: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/81365/en-us
2. Essentially follow the directions in this post for the how-to update to 10.10.2 post here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/os-x-updates/155489-os-x-10-10-2-update.html#post958863

3. Reboot and boot with flag "nv_disable=1"
4. Install Nvidia driver (and audio drivers in Multibeast if you don't have sound)
5. Reboot and enjoy

If this doesnt work for you, try plugging your monitor into your motherboard's graphics and then booting into OSX and installing the nvidia driver and then plug your monitor back into the gfx card.

Good luck!

Tried this with my X99+GTX980 build. Updated to 10.10.2 and reboot with nv_disable=1 and it hangs at
[AGPM Controller] unknownPlatform

Still looking for solution that works with this hardware.

So semi-noob question here. I always see people saying to disable the built in motherboard graphics in BIOS once you have the graphics card working (in my case gtx 980). What is the benefit of disabling it? I currently have it left on but use my gtx 980. Also by disabling it, what happens if something happens to your graphics card and it stops working. Wouldnt you then have no way to display your screen since the built in graphics are now disabled?

Second question, I notice that when my monitor is plugged into the gtx 980's display port, it takes a good 30-45 seconds after turning on my desktop before the bios screen shows up. But if I have it plugged into the hdmi port or even into the built in igfx, it shows up within 5 seconds. Is this related to my above question? If not, what might be the cause.

Thanks. Any info is greatly appreciated. :)

is anyone getting 4k out of their card? if you are PLEASE help.

10.10.2 update was a real mistake for me as a GTX 970 user. I did loose 4k resolution and cuda support. Also OS boot is much slower.
