Firewire 800 card not work. Help! Hackintosh

i would buy a Firewire 800 Card for my hackintosh.

My System:

- Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H
- Corsair 16GB 1600MHz CL 10 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Kit
- Intel BX80646I74770K Boxed Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell Processore con ventola, 8MB Cache, 3.50 GHz

I need your help. After several searches on the web I purchased a firewire card Startech in How I Has Been Recommended because compatible.

Yesterday I installed in my Hackintosh but the law does not. I did a test by attaching a FireWire 800 hard drive, and is turned on but does not show on the desktop. The hard drive works because it has also a USB port and connecting it sees.
How is it possible?

I have maverick operating system

I read in a different thread that certain cards require external devices to be powered on before turning on the Hackintosh. SOP for the most part with that.

Might have been a Startech (?) card that allowed FireWire hotplugging, but I can't exactly recall which thread that was in...
