@trs96 my bad, I replied to an email notification without reading the full message!

Couple of other AMD Single slot Workstation GPU's, which are the basis for us being able to use some of the RX5000 and RX6000 series cards.

W6600 Single Slot card, probably the fastest and most powerful single slot card AMD make currently...

This screenshot below shows the relative performance of the W6600 and the cards close to the WX7100. Nearly double the performance with the W6600 card.

Not cheap, but not as expensive as I thought they would be, starting at £750 in the UK.

Yes, the W5500 is listed on the Dortania GPU Buyers Guide.

The Navi 23 section hasn't been updated to include the W6600, but the use of this Workstation card allows the RX6600 and RX6600 XT cards to be used in macOS. The W6600 is supported on the MacPro7,1 in Monterey 12.1 or newer. It can be used in an EGPU on a hack or Mac. I have seen a few YT videos about these cards in MacPro's and EGPU's.

It is the same with the W5700, W6800 and W6900 cards. Use of these workstation cards enables the RX5700/5700XT, RX6800/RX6800XT & RX6900/6900XT cards to work in macOS. Although they are all dual width cards, so not applicable for the OP's question.

Some data points on W series based on direct experience:

I found W5700 worked well under Big Sur and Monterey most versions, iMac20,2 and iMacPro1,1.

There was a benchmark performance slowdown that required some renames in WEG after a Monterey point update, but this slowdown went away with the next point update.

I could've guessed the W5000 series cards are solid choices, except they were, and remain, expensive, and my W5700 just died without warning last month—got it new a year before.

Replaced with a MSI Mech RX6600XT (also dual slot but shorter). Mech is 30% faster than W5700, at 1/3 the price! But as EdHawk notes, 6600s req Monterey 12.1+

I was concerned about thermals due to RX6600XT venting inside case with super hot overclocked 11th gen running allcore transcodes, but it hasn't been a problem so far, as I don't run the GPU hard and its fans stay off more than the half the time. It's a zero RPM card.
