problem is intermittent. It seems if you restart the pc from macos restart the hardware won't show up. If you turn the pc completely off and power it on the hardware shows up.

It will not work on High Sierra until RehabMan or someone else update the kexts.

The kext is working in my build with bcm5701 ethernet card and high Sierra. Sometimes after restart the network card disappear. The most strange thing is Mac address is not the original Mac address from the network card but the 00:01:02:03:04:05. Can someone have a idea how to solve this issue ?

I figured out the problem. With the old ionetworkfamily.kext from Sierra now everything is ok. I hope some day bcm5701 patch will be fixed for the new high Sierra kext.

    Hello.

I am using the latest release version of FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_BCM577XX_as_BCM57765.kext that are found here. https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-fake-pci-id/downloads/

My Ethernet device now shows up but it always says unplugged. If I boot into Windows, it works fine. I checked and it is en0 for BSD name.

I went to Network prefpane, and removed it from the left column and applied then rebooted and deleted /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist (and also preferences.plist). Rebooted. Still shows unplugged.

    .

    Hardware

    Dell Vostro 230
    e8400
GMA X 4500 Chipset with some type of BCM BCM57788 Ethernet port.
    Nvidia GTX 970
    Sierra 10.12.6 Build 16G29

    Thanks

Same problem on my Asrock Z77E-ITX.
Either Networkcard fix won't be injected or MAC is 00:01:02:03:04:05.
Hope this can be fixed easily.

Curios whether anyone has been able to get BCM Ethernet working on High Sierra. I tried 12-15 kexts without success. If someone has found a solution, please share. The mac i am working with is an i7-2600k, asrock z68 extreme4 mobo, with a nvidia gtx 650ti. Thanks to all.

I was able to get my BCM57788 (14e4 1691) working in Sierra by using BCM5722D.kext. Injected it through Clover. All good.

I have found a solution for Broadcom 57781 in ASRock z68 extreme4 gen3!! Works for me perfectly, even after OS updates

    1. You need to delete (create a backup on Desktop before) High Sierra's IONetworkingFamily.kext in HD/System/Library/Extensions
    2. Download my Zip Archive in attachments
    3. Open Kext Utility or Kext Drop and install all 3 kexts from my zip archive in this order one by one
    a) IONetworkingFamily.kext
    b) FakePCIID.kext
    c) FakePCIID_BCM57XX_as_BCM57765
    4. Reboot

    Should work fine!

PS I just took IONetworkingFamily.kext from previous versions of macOS where FakePCIID by RehabMan worked perfectly. So, it has worked in High Sierra too!

    Hope it helps
