That's quite slow...Is this the real-world limit? The Max output I can get is 645 Mbit/s
I get around 950 on one way, or 850/850 both-ways... But I'm using top-notch cabling...
Thanks to Belmore, this time I used the "time cp" command and copied the Mac 10.6.7 OSXCombo update to my Windows file server.
net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=2
time = 22.009 seconds to copy the 1.06GB OSX combo file
But doing simple math, that equates to only 48 MB/s. ... instead of the 80MB/s number I got above. Where did the rest go? Overhead? or slow hard disk speed (RAID 1).
That's the reason why I test with netperf...
Doing tests like these involves: Disk I/O, file-system, etc.
Too much overhead to be able to identify if the issue is networking or not.
