I always wanted to try out a Mac for experimentation. I wanted to build one years ago on a Intel 775 platform but never had the time. This is an inexpensive way to try one out.
The ASUS Video Card has two problems: 1. The Heatsink is HUGE (2 slots). It will not fit in the case I bought. I replaced the Heatsink with a single slot Fansink. 2. No HDMI audio yet. I am still working on it.
The case is very nice but the included Case Fan is loud. I replaced it with an Arctic Cooling AF 8025 PWM. I also installed another Case Fan above the CPU attached to the case side panel, Arctic Cooling AF 8025L. The system is very quiet and run fairly well.

Build Instructions:
- Basically followed DaveR13's Build: http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-builds/56210-daver13s-build-core-i3-2105-ga-h61n-usb3-8gb-gt430.html and sdp07d's Build: http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-buil...cyclone-6850-a.html?highlight=Gaming+Mini+ITX for Windows 7 installation.
- My Guide:
- BIOS Setup: Using BIOS version F3
- Load optimized BIOS
- Power Management Setup: ACPI Suspend Type [S3(STR)], HPET Support [Enabled], HPET Mode [64-bit mode]
- Integrated Peripherals: SATA AHCI Mode [AHCI]
- Unibeast USB Drive from Lion 10.7.4 creation Steps 1 - 2: http://www.tonymacx86.com/61-unibeast-install-os-x-mountain-lion-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
- Mac OS X Lion Installation:
- Boot PC from USB-HDD from Boot Menu (F12 key).
- Open Disk Utility and Partitioned hard drive.
- Lion using 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)"
- Windows using 'MS-DOS (FAT)'
- Install Lion to Mac partition.
- Post-Installation Step 4: http://www.tonymacx86.com/61-unibeast-install-os-x-mountain-lion-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
- Renamed downloaded DSDT file (version F3) to DSDT.aml and copied to Desktop.
- Checked the following:
- UserDSDT Install
- System Utilities
- Drivers & Bootloaders expanded:
- ALC8xxHDA and AppleHDA Rollback
- Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx Ethernet v0.0.90
- Bootloaders
- Windows 7 installed onto MS-DOS (FAT) partition (Formatted to NTFS).
- Chimera Bootloader, UserDSDT and System Utilities reinstalled using Multibeast by booting into Mac partition using Unibeast USB drive.
- BIOS Setup: Using BIOS version F3
Problems:
- G210 HDMI Audio not working yet. Might buy a nVidia 4xx/5xx series to replace it to enable audio OOTB.
