My only original contribution is probably the cpu speed....make a shell geeklet that is:
sysctl -n hw.cpufrequency | awk '{print $0/1000000000" GHz"}'

Awesome -- which one in specific is outputting that iTunes control in the bottom left? I've searched for the past 15 minutes. Share the secret??
