Crashes and beach balls with logitech c920 webcam

I recently purchased a c920 webcam and so far have not had much luck with getting it working. It is plugged into a usb 2.0 port, though I have tried a 3.0 with the same result. In system profile it is shows up as "Logitech Camera"


GA-Z68XP-UD3
Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5 GHz CPU
MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti

Running the The logitech software will cause a system lock up.
Photo booth will open up to a beach ball and need to be force quit.
Skype will show the device as logitech camera #3, but the window will be black. The mic shows a signal.
Facetime works
quicktime recording works along with a few random free webcam apps.

Anythings I should try, or known causes of this?

Did you try it on the non high speed USB ports USB2 or the ones above the PS2 port.

I have not been able to get any different results out of the various 2.0 ports on the board.
