Okay...I got and saved the IOReg but it won't let me upload/attach it. It says it can't attach "ioreg" files.

Sorry, rather it says that "the extension ioreg is not allowed."

Right click on the file, an compress it first.
Then you can attach the zip-file.

Hope that helped.

my friend have you try this

Thanks again, that did the trick. Why didn't it just say something like "file too large" instead of blaming the extension?

Anyway, here is my zipped IOReg.

So back to the original question: Why can't I get my audio working?

BTW, for those who had trouble figuring out what to use to get an IOReg of your system in the first place (like I did), followed this link provided in another thread from Toleda: http://www.osx86.es/?p=610

Don't bother with Xcode.

Can't open the file. Save a copy, open the file to verify and attach.

Best use the ioreg function in DSDT (ioreg explorer 2.0), since v3.0 is also always giving me files that I cannot open. (just personal findings)

Okay...let's try this again! Hopefully it will work this time. It does open for me.

It is version 2.0, BTW.

Success, it opened for me. Two obvious problems:
1. Delete the enabler in S/L/E
2. dsdt/HDEF/layout-id is for the ALC885. Edit to 0x79, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00.

I see the edits for HD3000 HDMI audio which may cause no audio devices to appear if you are using 889 audio. There is a solution if that is what you want. Please advise.

It'll have to wait until tomorrow since my Hackintosh is at work and I am at home now.

I ultimately will use this at home and the setup that I had in mind would require HDMI audio, but through the video card (HD 5770).

I do have an HDMI monitor at work that I can test/set it up on.

So, what should I do from her to get to that point?
