You linked to the 6770 - you need a 6870. The 6770 does not work well in OS X.

The DSDT isn't really what's getting him/her audio, it's the kext from OSX86.net that he/she linked. That kext may work, but it's not as native and probably won't provide the same sound quality as the MultiBeast AppleHDA drivers. I actually just looked at the DS3H and the D3H on amazon, and they were exactly the same price ($110), so I would definitely get the DS3H for ease of installation and compatibility.

I think I might end up going with a dedicated sound card. What would you recommend for -$100? If you are unsure I'l just look on Head-fi.

I don't know anything about dedicated sound cards - I suspect that there are very few that work with OS X. As for an i5, it's definitely a great processor.

How about the Z77X UD3H or Z77X UD5H? And will all the USB ports (including USB3) work on them? I think I might go with the 3750K.
