I've been doing some research about getting a Wifi USB dongle that will work for my Desktops Mavericks 10.9.
I came across many forums and such and I think I might go for the EDUP Mini Wifi 150MB USB Adapter.
The Chipset is a , REALTEK 8188cu and there are drivers avalible for 10.8 on the realtek website and I was wondering if I install those drivers on to the 10.9 Mavericks will the Wifi USB work.

As I've looked at other peoples forums saying it has worked and I noticed that the driver was a lower version then there current install.

Besides it only costs $10 and it looks promising.

Thanks :)

Here, let me just search that for you

Edimax EW-7811Un - mentioned as working in Mavericks here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/network/113747-new-tl-wdn4200-dual-wifi-usb-dongle-os-x-10-9-mavericks.html and here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/buying-ad...max-usb-wifi-adapter-ew-7811un-mavericks.html

EDUP EP-N8531 and EDUP EP-N8508 - mentioned here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/buying-advice/119285-mavericks-10-9-1-mini-usb-wifi-dongle.html

There are plenty of others, just go to the search bar and type in "usb wifi Mavericks", then take your pick.

Hey man! I am currently using the Asus WIFI N-13 Adapter. You can find it on amazon or anywhere. Its a great adapter. I have been using it since snow leopard. The dongle uses a utility instead of drivers to make it compatible. However, the utility hasnt been updated past 10.7 but it has working support for 10.9. I am living proof. Here: check out my Custom Build Page and scroll down until you see it under "Components".

I highly recommend it!

The EDUP EP-N8531, EDUP EP-N8508, and EDIMAX EW-7811Un described above are $7.49, $8.49, and $9.99 respectively at Newegg.

I am from Australia :/ they are $20+ here and from China where I can get them.

Which of these WiFi USB adapters appears as an Airport so you have the Airport icon in the menu bar? I bought the Realtek adapter from Monoprice and it uses a utility instead of OS X's Airport.

None.

Hi,

I read this thread when looking for a WIFI adapter and I was concerned about reports of people having issues with the dongles mentioned.

I just wanted to share my experience with the NewerTech USB2.0 WIFI dongle. Although it's not a NANO dongle, it's still pretty small and comes with a neat extender cable / dock which can be used to improve placement for desktops.

Oh, and it's *MADE FOR MACS* by a Mac-centric company, which I thought would be beneficial as far as compatibility.

I'm using it with my Lenovo Thinkpad T520 hackintosh.

Here's the device I'm talking about:

I think I paid $15 with shipping total.

Please note, the drivers are updated. Just use the generic RALINK drivers for Mavericks and ML here:

http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads/?sort=os

Scroll to the place where it says "USB (RT270/ RT2770/ RT3X7X/ RT537X/ RT5572)"

Hope this helps someone out!!
