I installed Catalina beta 8 from Mojave yesterday just fine. Then got the notice that Beta 9 was out and I've run that upgrade. Goes thru the upgrade process and everything seems to have worked but upon reboot it's still Beta 8. Even installed completely from the Recovery partition where the graphical installer showed it was installing 19A573a to my internal NVME and same thing!

Thanks!

When you install the upgrade, the system reboots several times, and you have to
ensure that you are selecting to boot from the new Install and not from your old
system. Sometimes the preferences in Clover are set to select the wrong system
to boot for upgrading.

I almost had the same issue issue but realised that I had to choose the boot option that said something about "Data" in the title. Choosing the usual one in Clover resulted in the system booting up without the update.

The update went smoothly without any issues.

Selecting the Data volume was indeed the issue. Thank you!

So what is the proper or optimum setting for Clover Default Boot Volume? LastBootedVolume? Mine was set to the NVME volume.

Even though it set to last booted volume, you can select Boot Install ....
It only shows up while the update needs to be completed, then it goes away.
IF I remember right you only have to select it one time.
Some of the updating is done before you reboot by changing the Run level.

No need to manually selecting the right boot. Before updating, always go into your config.plist turn on auto scan entries and set default boot volume to LastBootedVolume, then you can start your update and let the clover auto select your boot drive for you until you successfully login to the new updated desktop and you can go back in and change your config.plist back.

Public Beta 8 is 573a and Public Beta 9 is 578c
