Black screen external monitor using HP Ultraslim dock station (with DP)

And here is the proof that when connected directly to the laptop, the external screen is well recognized as "Display Port".

No "Problem Reporting" files attached.
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.

Don't understand. I didn't change anything so the reporting files remain the same. I just go a step forward on my investigation.

Your old ioreg shows connector-type <00 04 00 00> (which is DP).
But we have already established you may be providing/looking at old ioreg data (post #17 and #18).

Note that the data you're looking at now (in System Information) may be related to the EDID, not the framebuffer connector.

So here are the new reporting files (seems to be the same ones).
Same result: connector-type in ioreg is "00 04 00 00" (DP) whereas the OSX system report shows DVI or HDMI !!!
When the monitor is connected directly to the laptop (without the dock station) it is well recognized as Display port in the system report...

Your ioreg shows monitors connected @1 and @2. Which is which? Where is the System Information data for the @2?
Attach ioreg with monitor connected directly to the laptop.

@1 is the DP monitor
@2 is the VGA one (which works)

Please find attached the System Information capture for @2 and the ioreg with the DP monitor directly connected to the laptop.

@2 is the VGA one (which works)

Please find attached the System Information capture for @2 and the ioreg with the DP monitor directly connected to the laptop.

Note that the EDID is different between the monitor that was plugged in vs. the new one (red/crossed-out AppleDisplay under @1 vs. black non-crossed AppleDisplay)...

Ok so back to my previous issue: EDID data are not overrided whereas the displayName is. Don't know why my override file is not well taken into account.

If the display name is changing in SysPrefs->Displays (and System Information), then the override file is working.

Indeed I confirm that the display name is the one that I defined in the override file, that's why I don't understand what's going on! It looks like another process is reseting the EDID value... I will continue to investigate.
