Beginners Guide to using OC Auxiliary Tools App (Also known as OCAT)

There are two minor typos in the OCAT database list. The two iMacs highlighted in blue are either 7th gen Kaby Lake based or else they should say iMac19,1 and iMac19,2 if they are Coffee Lake config.plists.

Not sure if you can fix them or if the dev ic005k needs to do that. Should I open an issue on his Github ?

Can confirm. Desktop_7thGen is Z270 - Kaby Lake. My main rig is an i5-7600k (with HD630 iGPU running headless) that is closest to the iMac18,3 (I believe the iMac18,1 is for non-iGPU/headless-disabled SMBIOS).

The iMac18,3 uses a Radeon Pro 580 graphics processor, along with the i5-7600K's HD 630 IGPU (headless). Neither the dGPU nor IGPU support Metal 3 in this system.

If you were to switch from iMac18,3 to iMac19,1 SMBIOS, does that make any difference to how your system interprets the Metal function, or how it is reported?

I don't see how that would help as that matches my hardware specs even less. At least my current dGPU is theoretically closer to the Radeon Pro 5500 XT that Metal 3 supports than the Pro 580 (and I'm not sure how much difference there is between my HD630 and the 19,1s UHD630).

Thanks @5T33Z0 I'll try that out.

UPDATE: @5T33Z0 I tried your Metalgpu script and this is the result. It looks like the RX 5000 & RX 6000 series DO work, not just the Pro versions - which makes sense. I think my HD 630 is misconfigured as I get conflicting readings on whether it's enabled or not (System Info and the GPU tab in Activity Monitor don't see it but Geekbench does). I have it set up in my config.plist but am going to go through your guide to see if I missed anything when setting it up headless.

I don't know if my input is pertinent to the conversation or not but I am running my rig Headless albeit my graphics is the RX 580 card but the integrated CPU graphics is the same (HD 630), these are my settings and output results attached.

Sorry but my Kaby Lake only has the non-U HD 630.

HD 630 also supports Quick Sync Video. The only difference between the HD630 and the UHD630 I can see on ark.intel is a lower framerate and frequency. And on top of that, the exact same CPU is used in the iMac18,3:

So I am pretty sure the HD 630 supports Metal 3 as well but if the GPU is handling it already, the iGPU won't. Which makes sense
