Asus X79 Rampage IV Extreme | Core i7-3930K (Successful)

I'm using 64GB of Corsair Vengeance (8x8gb 1866mhz) and it's perfectly stable. For cooling I have a Corsair H100i which doesn't interfere with the ram.

My processor is 3970X over clocked to 4.2ghz. There is no speed step so it's always running at 4.2ghz.

Idle temp is 40-degrees Celsius. Temp under load is between 50-60 Celsius.

GPUs are (2) EVGA GTX 770 4GB.

Altogether I am extremely pleased with the performance and stability. The only thing I still have to tweak is USB 3.0 which is a little flaky.

I don't think the noctua d14 will fit with that ram.

I also picked up a Corsair h100i to run on my 4930k. 64gb of Corsair Vengeance... Build went well, not for the install!

I've been working on getting my 4930k build running with 10.9.2 with MK500's help, but I'm running into a snag.

Core components are as follows:
4930k
Asus Rampage Extreme IV
64gb Corsair Vengeance
Corsair h100i CPU cooler
Asus GTX 770
OWC PCI-e Accelsior E2

Mavericks will not boot without cpus=1, we've narrowed it down. However, he does not have a problem using his CPU (3930k)... He does not need the flag and he boots just fine. Does anybody have any insight on what I need to do here?

Shilohh, do you have any advice for me? Bios settings are all correct and Virtualization is set to enabled as well.

Hi All,

I've been working directly with swamyg1 on his build as he is my RL friend of many years. I've been testing the same build procedure on my machine with excellent results. The only differences I can think of:

He has 64GB; I have 32GB
He has 4930K; I have 3930K
He has 770 GTX; I have 680 GTX

We simply cannot seem to get his machine running without cpus=1

The good news is G has forced me to work on the 10.9.2 version of the guide....so it's coming soon. :)

Wow; OK....

With 10.9.2 power management seems to be working perfectly. The only setting I changed in my BIOS was C1E Enabled and all below Disabled (thanks shilohh). I now am seeing range from 1.1Ghz to 4.3Ghz with at least 4 steps in between. Power usage in HWMonitor ranges from 25watts at idle (for the CPU core) to 120Watts peak.

Also; my geek bench 3 64bit is slightly higher than before at 22346.

This is AWESOME :)

After installation I added PCIRootUID=0 and npci=0x2000 to my org.chameleon.Boot.plist and made sure GraphicsEnabler=No.

Note that all my USB ports were not active until I created a custom DSDT.aml based on shiloh's instructions....but everything else just worked.

Sorry I didn't start testing 10.9.2 sooner. From a clean install of 10.9.2 using Unibeast 3.0.1; this is my complete Multibeast 6.2.1 setup:

Just a heads up guys, with this configuration (NullCPUPM) it's not actual OS controlled pm. I have about 1/6th the power draw at idle with actual OS pm (2w CPU package cores and 14w CPU package total) .

First off with the 4930K or any IvyB-E CPU you'll need to use the newest available BIOSs IE 4802 or 4804. What BIOS are you on?
